Reddyheat rlp 100 will not stay lit, strong gas smell.

The problem i have is that when i try to ignite the heater, it will not stay lit. it stays lit until i release the control knob, then goes out. it also has a very strong gas smell and burns my eyes. im running it on a 20 lb cylinder, could that be the problem or is the valve bad or ????? if it is a part issue, where would be the least expensive site to purchase parts?

I had the same problem with my Reddy Heater PRO 100. It is the 20Lb bottle causing your problem.
I Put a 100LB bottle on and ended my problems.

My reddy heater RLP 100 would not stay lit after I released the ignitor switch so I changed the thermocouple and, the thermal unit switch. The heater will ignite but when I release the knob the flame goes...

A couple of things come to mind:

Restricted air flow. Check heater inlet and outlet. Remove any obstructions.

If the heater has been used in a dusty environment, it may simply need a thorough cleaning.

Inadequate propane supply. Make sure there's enough gas in the tank to facilitate combustion.

If the tank is full, turn of the tank valve and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose. Turn the tank valve on very, very slowly, until it's fully open and try relighting and operation of the heater.

If you have misplaced your Owners Manual, you can find it at www.deastech.com

Hope this helps to solve your problem.

Blower but no heat, no gas or no pilot ignition?

The pilot has to be lit.And to do so turn the knob to pilot. Then press it down and gas will come threw the pilot, then light the pilot, and hold the button down for about 45 seconds, count slow. The pilot has to heat the thermocouple up before the pilot light will stay on.Once it stays lit, turn the knob to on.

Wall mount propane heater ignites, but won't stay lit

I have a Reddyheat IWH16NLTD with this problem. When the heater fan turns on it blows the pilot light slightly up and away from the thermocouple causing the safety valve to close after the ceramic cools down. The manual says that low gas line pressure can cause the flame to rise too far from the thermocouple causing this problem, so either it is a problem with gas pressure, or it is an assembly plant problem.

Reddy heater rlp 100

Sounds like the thermocouple is not working or the flame is not hitting the thermocouple. It may take 30 seconds of flame or longer to keep it on. Check for a loose connection at the gas valve.

Either a 30# or 110# tank of propane will work. You might even get by for a short period of time using a gas grill tank, depending upon how cold it is outside.
