Question about Panasonic KX-FPG372 Plain Paper Thermal transfer Fax

1 Answer

Phone rings once (only... and weakly) then shuts down.

Checked the battery, and replaced it with factory supplied new one. No change. One weak phone ring, then if I grab it, I can talk. If not, it does not activate the answering machine. Checked all the 'contacts' and found not dirt/grime. The fax/phone is only 3 years old. ??? thanks for any suggestions, alan

My brother fax 575 just shut down is there anyway to restart ( no lights no power no dail tone)

Check to make sure the power supply cord is good and snug, if that does not change anything you have a power supply problem in the fax machine, at this stage it must be dismantled and checked for bad parts.

Will not receive faxes

Are you sure your phone line was not somehow moved into the ext or phone jack and not plugged into the LINE jack? That is the most common reason that happens.
If thats not the case, I would replace the phone cord, then have my phone line checked. Rarely if you can send and not receive is the machine a problem.
There are several conditions that have to exist to receive a fax. Receive is unlike send. When you send, you physically make a connection when you press the send button.
Receive is an electrical signal that tells the machine to turn on. The best way I can describe why it is a phone like issue is this. The phone line must have the right voltage, current and gain to make the connection, if the line is faulty, think of trying to change a channel or adjusting you TV volume with a remote that has weak batteries. You press and press and maybe it will change and maybe not. Same principle with a phone line that is weak. it may or may not conenct.
But first, check where its plugged into the machine and change the cord from the machine to the wall jack.

How do i set up fax to automaticely receive faxes after several rings

For a phone line dedicated only to the fax machine, the process is as follows:
  1. Press Menu/Set, 0, 1.
  2. You will see the Fax Receive window
  3. Use UP and DOWN arrows to change the setting to FAX ONLY
  4. Press Menu/Set.
  5. Press STOP/EXIT
Your fax machine will now answer every incoming call.
If the fax machine is sharing the phone line with a telephone, repeat the above steps and change from FAX ONLY to FAX/TEL This option will allow you to share the line with a phone only, not an answering machine. Once in FAX/TEL mode, the fax machine will still grab every incoming FAX call, and give a special ring (slightly different than a regular telephone ring) when it's a regular incoming phone call signaling you to answer the phone. I hope this helps with your problem. Best of luck!

Turn off fax ringer - turn on phone ringer Laserclass 2060P

You can set it for manual mode.
Or set it for fax only but set the incomming ring count to more than 8 times that will give you time to answer a call before it go to fax.

Cannot receive faxs

The majority of non receive issues are phone line problems.
3 conditions must exist for a fax to receive, the phone line voltage must be high enough, the phone line current must be high enough the the DB gain must be correct.
A fax receive should be viewed in the same way a remote controle works.
When you send a fax, you manually access the phone line when you select send, you connect to the phone line, normally via a relay. Once that physical connection is made, it can send anything. Maybe not well, but it will send.
Where as receiving is an electrical signal that activates the machine. If your phone line is not up to standard, its like haveing a remote control with weak or dead batteries and trying to turn on your TV with those weak batteries in it.
Issues, simply a bad phone cord between the machine and phone jack. Some resistance may have acrured over the years. The phone jack itself may have a poor connection.
A staticy phone line will cause a fax not to pick up. Plug a phone into that line and see if there is any noticible static.
Multiple devices plugged into the phone line with the fax machine. ETC an answering machine, credit card machine, etc can cause more of a draw on a shared line, if that is the situation, at least for a test, remove everything but the fax machine from the line and see if it receives then.
Rarely if the machine can send and not receive is the machine an issue.
Have your phone lines checked well and that sould resolve the issue. And make sure the line is not plugged into the extension or phone jack on the machine, but plugged into the line jack. That is also a common problem.
