Question about SMC EZ Connect Modem

My cable light on my modem goes in and out the internet will connect and then 5-10 minutes later the yellow light will come on on the cable light for about 1-3 minutes then connect again. i have troubleshooted my computer so i know it is not the pc. just wondering what i need to do to make sure it stays connected. ive also unplugged everything and put it back. i have the SMC 8004

Call the cable company to come out for a service call... it sounds like signal issues... could be as simple as a bad splitter or connector.

Netgear wnd3700v3 has two yellow linght on and no internet


The internet port of the router needs to connect to the modem from your ISP. The two yellow lights are normal but if the internet light is off check the cable from the router's internet port to your modem.

Sometimes the modem needs to be turned off then back on again for the router to get an internet connection (IP address).

If your operater gave you modem and all cables, connect telephone cable into switch, then one part from switch goes to your telephone and other into modem, also yellow cable goes into modem and into pc.

dont forget to plug in power outlet on modem. for other settings you should call your operator

Try a new working LAN cable between your internet modem and the router. Is your internet modem connected and working? You should be able to directly connect using a LAN cable to check the modem connection. Reboot your modem and router.

Pushed the stand by button but that didnt help me grt the online to work


Make sure that all of you connections on your modem are plugged in (you should see 4 green lights and one blinking yellow/amber light). If you only have one amber light, press the standby button again. If the modem still is not working, check to make sure that the coaxial cable from the wall is tightly (hand tight) screwed into both the wall and the back of the modem, unplug the power cord and wait about 30 seconds before plugging it back in. Give the modem time to boot up (about 2 minutes usally) and try to connect to the internet again.

I plugged all my cables from my modem to the router and the internet is still not wanting to work on my laptop. Im still confused as to which plugs go where.


Hi,

Please follow the physical connection setup to get your connection working,

1. Connect the modem cable to the router in the yellow color slot

2. Connect your computer to any one of the grey slot of the router

3. If your Internet Service Provider is cable provider (like Comcast, Cablevision) , then
unscrew the coaxial cable(TV cable) from the cable modem and unplug the power cable from the modem also unplug the power cable of the router then wait for 1min .

4. After a minute first screw in the coaxial cable and the power cable to the cable modem and wait till all the lights comes up on the modem , then turn on the Belkin router.

5. Then the light on the router will be Green , You will be able to access the internet .

No modem or internet lights on my Belkin Router


connect the cable coming out of the modem to the isolated yellow coloured(wan) port of the router....connect another cable between your computer and any one of the grey coloured ports....check for the light status now...if its fine try going online...if not type 192.168.2.1 in internet explore and login ti router setup page(password leave it blank...)if your isp is cable then go to connection type and select dynamic...also go to mac clone and click on "clone"tab once and apply changes...but for this purpose you should connect only the computer from which you got connecton from the ISP..if its a dsl connection select dynamic in connection type, it ll work...after applying remove the power supply to the modem and router by unplugging the power cable wait for 2 minutes and plug it back again...if your modem comes with a battery backup then remove the battery wait for a minute and plug back while the power cable is unplugged...if your modem is embarq or bell canada or bell sympatico or century link, then login to routerpage and click on lan settings and change the lan ip address from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.5.1. It should work....

From the walljack to the modem, use the gray cable.

Disconnect the yellow cable from the modem to the PC.

Use the black cable from the router to the modem (where the PC was originally connected).

Use the 2 yellow cables for the PC and the laptop going to any of the 4 ports of the router.

I have an N+ wireless router that will not talk to my motorola SB5100 cable modem the modem and internet lights flash amber and the setup assistant does not help.


IF Your ISP is Cable then

Step 1 : Connect Modem - Router - Main Computer *(Wired)

Step 2 : Open RSP By typing 192.168.2.1 On the Address Bar of the Internet Explorer

Step 3 : On the left side under internet WAN Click Connection Type

Step 4 : Leave the password Blank And click Submit

Step 5 : Select the Connection type As Dynamic

Step 6 : Click Next

Step 7 : Leave the Host Name Blank And click Apply Changes

Step 8 : On the Left Click on MAC Address Cloning

Step 9 : Click Clone , Apply Changes

Step 10 : Turn off the Modem And the Router

Step 11 : Turn ON The Modem First, Wait Until All the Lights Are ON

Step 12 : Connect the Power To The Router

Step 13 : Wait for 5 Minutes

Step 14 : If The Lights Are Still Flashing

Step 15 : Connect Modem - Computer

Step 16 : Check if It is getting the Internet

Step 17 : If its Not then Restart the Modem And Try It

Step 18 : Make Sure You are getting the Internet When you Connect Modem - Computer

Step 19 : And after that Connect Modem to the Yellow Port on the Router

Step 20 : Check the Lights After 5 Minutes

If it is Still the Same then call Belkin Tech Support

Modem is not recognized


do you have the driver for the modem installed on that pc.it has to be check your device manager see if there any question marks in yellow or quotation marks if so itll be the driver needed
