If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. No, because Canon's do not have any internal memory. A memory card is always needed.

Memory card error message

Cards are coming in different formats and it might be possible that you brought a card which is not suitable or functional with your camera. The other reason could be that we are having options to lock our memory card in digital camera and you might have taken out your earlier card without unlocking it. The system might be broken from inside and this could be a reason that you are still getting a message that memory card is locked. It seems possible based on problem you are sharing.

Memory card error with new memory card

Hi there, welcome to FixYa.

Let's work on the camera first.
1) Turn the camera off and remove the battery and the card.
2) Put the battery back in without the card and turn it on.
3) Turn the camera off and insert the CF card.
4) Turn the camera back on again.
See if that takes the message away.

If it doesn't leave me a comment and we go to step 2.
If it does, thanks for coming to FixYa.

Camera will not power on with a memory card installed.

1. Try another memory card and contact the memory card manufacturer 2. The PowerShot SD630 requires repair service.
