The sensor is probably stuck, and it took me a few minutes to fix!!

Good luck...

Connected HP6840 to iMac with Ethernet and trying to get it to print. Would like to connect wireless. Am I dreaming or can this be done? Should it not print with ethernet connection?

Hi there.

Actually you can. You can make it wireless if you have a wireless router.

Click this link for the manual on how to.

Hope it serves you well.

Thank you!

Printer thinks lid is open

I followed the link below and found that the plastic bar of the sensor had broken off. I used a gel super glue to glue it back. Not sure how long this will work. The plastic component probably should have been replaced but so far so good.

Hp deskjet printer 6840 wont print .keeps on saying top cover is open when it is actually closed.

Pop off the right side cover - it is just held with clips. At the hinge, you will see that the cover switch arm that is supposed to move up and down as the cover opens & closes (in the slot in the geared hinge) is probably broken off. It is in the up position when the lid is closed, and down when the lid is open. I cut the shaft of a Q-tip to length and wedged it into the space to keep the cover switch up all of the time and still allow free movement of the lid.

Back door closed

I did not get any error message but the 6940 printer would not print. Instead "Ready" the printer said "door open". When I deleted printer and plugged the usb cable back in the XP machine found the new hardware, said "Ready" and could print.
