Question about Everex eXplora RS2800 PC Desktop
My daughter has an exerex RS2800 desk top computer, last week it completly stoped working (monitor did not display and so on) I worked on it and got it working sort of. I need to do a complete restore back to factory setting, but after trying and trying I have determined that either the recoviry counsole/partition are gone or inaccessable. I contacted everex and was told that a restore disk is no longer available, so is there any other way to restore the computer back to the factory setting or is it just useless now
When you start up the computer there should be something in the boot up that says press this key to restore or something like that before you get to windows. The rs2800 has a secondary partition that has all of the files and windows installations to restore the PC back to factory install.

Assuming you have XP home, do you stil have access to the system restore found at: start/ programs/ accessories/ system tools/ system restore
If you can get this far, after restoring to a point things work, I would start the process of saving files to cd, dvd, usb drive or an external hard drive. Then plan on doing a complete re-install from scratch using the XP re-install cd.
Note This will erase all files (which is what you want when you're ready)
If you have a local computer shop nearby, they can usually do this for under $100. Since reloading the operating system, drivers, updates, as well as all your programs takes a long time, it's usually a good deal to have someone else do it.
Most people that work on computers regularly do this every few years at least. Windows has a tendancy to run slower and slower as time goes on. Even more so if an individual is not maintaining the system such as running a spyware program like Adaware, or Spybot search & destroy to get rid of the browsing stuff which left unchecked will infiltrate your system.
A full lower right task bar is a good indication a lot of things are running which may not need to be. 4-8 things running there might be typical for most users.
If you decide to go this route look at upgrading your ram to at least 1GB while you're at it.
Let me know if I've helped.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
