I just inherited a good sounding Sony boombox from neighbor. It randomly skips. I have tried various CDs. I noticed it is kind of dusty inside the CD cavity. Is that why and what can I do to prevent skipping?
Thanks for your time and response!

Since my post, I purchased a phillips disc cleaner and ran it. It skips less often, but does continue to skip. Again- thanks for helping here- Julie

It was reccommended that I get a laser cleaner- (I had already tried one and it has not resolved the problem yet.) I was hoping to continue persuing an answer that will help.
Gently dust if out with a soft brush Then get a CD Lens cleaner disk and run it. Should do the job.

You did not say but I assume the skipping is whilst the box it on a table top? But you of course should expect a little skipping if you are playing while you are er- skipping ;-) A laser clean is really I meant, although disc cleaner too.
