Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer
print is gray instead black. How to fix it.
I wish someone would REALLY solve this, but I've found two (time-consuming!) workarounds:
1) Despite using plain paper, tell it you're using "Matte Photo Paper" (this is necessary in order to...) then set the print quality to the next-to-highest level (default is middle of five quality levels). The doc will print in black as it should, not grey.
2) Instead of the above, use the printer dialogue option to print to a PDF file; then open the pdf and print it. It will print in black, not grey!
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is apparently only a problem on Macs. The workaround I found is to do a Print Preview (which, in fact, generates a pdf) and then print from the preview instead of directly from the original document. Slightly easier than saving to a pdf. Unfortunately, Acrobat Reader 9.0 also prints gray instead of black and won't allow the use of Preview :-(((
