I upgraded the memory on an EMACHINES T3104 desktop from 256 to 2GB (2 X 1GB Samsung DRR PC3200 chips/mem cards), and after doing so, the PC freezes up at diferent times, no matter what application I may be using (even while doing updates). In looking at other online forums, I'm seeing where it's possible that I need to check/change a BIOS setting to make the 2GB memory work. While I am above average in computer knowledge, this is an area I am deficient in. This "freezing" did not occur with the single 256 board. I can't believe I would be unable to not use the full 2GB capability of the machine memory. Thx for any responses

Re: PC freezing up after memory upgrade
You can use a utility called CPU-Z to find the timing of the memory installed in the PC. Then check your memory documentation (I could find no specs at the Samsung site) to make sure they match in the BIOS. I would remove one stick and see if the problem is better, and also try another brand (Kingston, Corsair, other major brand) to see if any of them work.

yeah thats a normal issue with the dimension 2400 as the older bios only supports a max of 1gb of memory you will need to go to the dell website which ive linked below and get the bios update which will give you support up to 2gb-pc3200 ddr memory
