Sony vaio VGN BX563B keyboard replacement procedure

Hi

I spilled soda on my Sony VGN BX563B and I want to change the keyboard. I have changed in several Sony but in this one when I was trying to pull the power bar by removing two screws in the back and two on the power bar (almost half way of the power bar, hidden with two rubber cover) but still the power bar was litlebit hard to remove. Just not to break the bar I gave up and thought probably you can provide some help.

The control key and shift key of my SONY VAIO VGN-FE880E labtop does not work. What should I do?

Simple answer, replace the keyboard.

Unless the keys are just stuck from spilled soda or something.
In this case you might be able to take it apart and clean the keyboard.

If it's under warranty, call Sony technical support or customer service first.

If you want to DIY then loo for some sort of service manual online because opening Laptops can be complicated.
You should be able to find a place to buy a replacement by contacting Sony or searching for a 3rd party parts place online.

The keyboard on my boss' sony vaio VGN TZ 340 seems to be locked. At least it doesn't work. Cleaning around it didn't work. Could she have unintentionally hit a key or function key that would cause this...

no there is no key that does that, your boss spilled somthing on it and thus it doesnt work, could need a new keyboard or just connection to motherboard.

Some keys on Sony Vaio VGN FS830w stopped working

Hi:
Most of the time it is a keyboard failure. You can troubleshoot this by plugging in an external keyboard and seeing how that works, but most of the time it is your keyboard. They are not expensive on ebay, maybe $15 + shipping, and not hard to change

Spilled small amount of liquid on it now it does not work. Looking for possible solution, ie motherboard.

remove the battery open up the notebook then spray rubbing alcohol all over the computer keyboard and, especially where you spilled liquid; really soak it; wait 24 hours for it to dry; and, try to turn it on with the power supply connected

SONY VAIO CMOS BATTERY LOCATION

Correction...

The CMOS battery is located under the system board, and is not accessible from under the keyboard.

The keyboard has to be removed in order to change the CMOS batter, (another reason why I don't like Sony laptops.)

Below is the batter I just pulled from a user's VGN-FS660\W 892cbd5.jpg
