Question about LG WM1812C Front Load Washer

1 Answer

LG washer (WM1832CW) error: UE

The LG washer (WM1832CW) always have the same problem of being unbalanced during Spin and Rinse cycle (error: "UE"). This has always been a recurring problem since the first time I used it. In the past, I
usually ignored the problem by rewashing the same
cycle until the unbalance issue goes away.
Lately, this problem has gotten worse. For example,
as I am writing, I am rewashing my same set of clothes
for the tenth time since two days ago (no
exaggeration) because of the unbalance factor.
Believe me, I have tried multiple times by either
removing or adding clothes, taking all the clothes out
and putting them back in, etc but nothing seems to
work.
Please help!

I understand I have owned the product for about a
year, but please understand that this is a not by any
means a working washer machine since day one. I've
also had the washer serviced by your company
(Reference #: C05123003754), but the service
representative did nothing to resolve the issue.

At this point, my patience is running thin and I am
gettting very dissappointed with LG and its products.
Please let me know if there is anything you can help
to solve this problem.

Hi,
This is a problem with modern machines that have a lot of sensors - compared to older models that just used to bang about a lot.

The dampers on this machine may not have been 100% since day 1, so should be replaced. It is their job to reduce the bounce in the drum. As a "belt and braces" attempt, manufacturers often fit foam blocks to the sides of the drum, and there is no reason why you shouldn't fit larger ones to fill up the gap entirely. Foam is cheap, so just use silicone to attatch it either side of the drum - leaving just a centimeters clearance on each side.
This should solve the problem.

UE Error Code

The UE error code (Unbalanced Error) displays when you wash items that cause the machine to shake badly during the spin cycle, if possible wash and drain the items only, then open the door and stack the items evenly on both sides of the drum in order to balance it, now select the spin cycle.

My WM1832CW front load machine consistently gives me the UE error code during the spin cycle regardless of the contents or size of the load. Its a direct drive system - so what could be the problem?

bad imbalance sensor. silly little contraption that sticks off the back of the drum. It is a plastic lever with a light sensor attached to the end. there is a hole and a bb that sits in the hole. when the load gets imbalanced, the bb gets knocked out of the hole and the light shines through the hole. the light sensor relays the error to the computer and it displays UE. I took the sensor apart, and put a piece of tape over the hole so the light cant shine through anymore. No more UE code. LG parts are very hard to find. I dont mess with them, but it was my neighbors machine. This will get them by until they can buy a new washer. good luck.

I have a LG WM1814CW front load washer. I get UE when it trys to go on spin cycle. I re-arranged the load and still comes up UE. I also tried a cycle without anything in the washer and still the same...

The UE error code is nothing to worry about. It indicates an "unbalanced error"¬-your washer's way of saying that the drum is not spinning is a smooth rotation. It could be as simple as rearranging the load in the drum (click image for zoom). Here's why:

1) Small loads. Your washer operates better when the weight of the load is evenly distributed across the drum, but that is not always possible with small loads.
2) Mixed fabric loads. For example, if you're washing jeans and t-shirts, the jeans could be on one side and the t-shirts on the other, causing the unbalance. Try rearranging the items and spin again.
3) Large single items. Items like sheets, blankets and comforters tend not to spread out evenly, causing unbalance when the drum spins. Rearrange the item and start the spin cycle over.
4) Spin Sense Option. If your washer has the Spin Sense Option, it may try to adjust the load on its own. If that happens, the washer would slow down and tumble a few times slowly during the spin cycle and then speed up until the problem is resolved.

Hope this helps.

The washer shows a UE error during the final spin. It does not reach the fast spin speeds, but shows the error after 5 minutes.

Goes Through Wash Cycles Empty Or Full Stops At Spin And Says UE About 4 Minutes Before End

Hi,
An UE Error Code is indicative of a “Unbalanced Error”.

This indicates that the drum is not spinning in a smooth rotation. It may be necessary to rearrange the load in the drum.

Thank You

UE is likely an unbalanced load or load is too large. Reduce the size of the load and your issue should be resolved.

Ue error during spin mode (b4 spin up happens) empty. wm3677hw

An UE Error Code is indicative of a “Unbalanced Error”. This indicates that the drum is not spinning in a smooth rotation. It may be necessary to rearrange the load in the drum. Also you have mentioned that the drum with full load has no such problem. It means that the drum cannot manage its weight in that position. So the problem might b adjustable easily. Try to remove the top panel and check for any slight movement in the position of the drum. Leaving it continue this way might increase the probability for the error to be repeated with the load. Will add some links related to internal diagrams of this model when i find some that might help you to check the drum inside.

Good luck with the machine. Please do rate my solution and post comments and results.

Sunny.
