Scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of scree) right click select task manager
applications see whats running trying to connect you might uninstall the program if you no longer need it also processes if you see something that should not be there click end now you might have a virus slowing your connection
also you might download and use this registry cleaner it is 100% totally free to use http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
also install more RAM
you might download a free bandwidth test run it and see what have

Ehh. have you tried using a real browser (i.e. not internet explorer).
chrome.google.com <-- I recommend chrome mozilla.com opera.com
also, restart your modem: tur it off, turn it back on. (unless of course you ahve dial-up and your moded is inside your PC). if you have dialup, your internet will be slow.
if you have cable, you internet will be intermittently slow during peak times.
also, may I suggest  speedtest.net  <-- post your results here as a comment.

hmm... well, your speeds here look normal (ok, your down speed is awesome, if the results are correct, and your up speed is average).

it could be that other programs are using your bandwidth while you surf the internet: i.e. update utilities, torrent and P2P software, etc. it could even be (though you would probably notice things much worse that slow-loading pages if this were the case) some type of malware.

have you tried using another borowser?http://chrome.google.com

if you use another computer on the same connection, is it still that slow?

Hi,
you can check the "ping" value on many free websites that will give you an idea of where the problem lies.
It could be your phone connection is not good, so is causing bits of information to be lost. As it has to be sent again - and again, it will take longer. Typically it shows as "loading" or disruptions on things like youtube video.

You can also see if it is your browser or something else by running interner explorer for a bit and see if things improve.

It could be down to settings, which could be reset to original spec.

The internet speed is slow.. connection is in & out

Hi there,

Here's another one.. to take the 20% bandwidth Windows is stealing from you. You'll love it! This guide teaches you to counter one of the main problems any Internet User may face - Slow Internet Speed! As simple it sounds, its as simple to increase it!
addthis_url = location.href; addthis_title = document.title; addthis_pub = 't1ma';
1) Go to Start>Run. Type in “gpedit.msc” (Without the quotes, duh!). (This opens a “Group Policy” window. If you're like me, you wont be interested in what it actually is, but what it can actually do for you.. Right? Anyways..)

2) Follow this path: Local Computer Policy>Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Network>QoS Packet Scheduler>Limit Reservable Bandwidth>. If it's disabled or not configured, change the settings like the one below: bandwith.jpg

Like the above screenshot indicates, select "Enabled" and set the Bandwitdth limit to 0%.
Why did we do that? Simple, like I said before, Windows is silently eating 20% of your bandwidth. I emphasize on the word “silently” - The explain TAB of the above window proves it. This is what it says:

Determines the percentage of connection bandwidth that the system can reserve. This value limits the combined bandwidth reservations of all programs running on the system.
By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.
If you enable this setting, you can use the "Bandwidth limit" box to adjust the amount of bandwidth the system can reserve.
If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the system uses the default value of 20 percent of the connection.
Important: If a bandwidth limit is set for a particular network adapter in the registry, this setting is ignored when configuring that network adapter.

Warm regards,

Anirban Mazumdar
