Question about DCS PHFS-P4N Stainless Steel Patio Heater
When I light my patio heater, it lites fine but the pilot flames stays very high and after about 5 minutes it shuts off. It lites right back up but does the same thing. I have a second unit and the only thing I can see is on the working unit once the unit lites, the pilot flame is not high like it is on the problem unit.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

crappy pilot flame (not properly heating the thermocouple), bad thermocouple, thermocouple loose where it screws into the pilot safety valve, bad safety valve magnet.
One or more of those is the problem.
Oh...there is also a saftey switch...in case it tips over. It will also cause the pilot to not stay lit (if the switch or wires that go to i are faulty)

SOURCE: natural gas patio heater
make sure there is no dust dirt spider webs in the pilot hood if u have a nice blue flame coming from the pilot and u held the pilot knob down for at least 30 sec
and it still doesn't work then u have a bad THERMOCOUPLE
