once i turn my printer on a message displays ( usb device not recognized) although it is proberly installed and i tried to change the usb hup but no use and tried another usb cable but no use also. i dont know wht to do ?? and if i ignored this message and tried to give it an order it sends me an error printing of the document.
I'm not sure, but I think I understand that you're connecting using a USB hub? If so, try connecting it directly to a USB port. Many times an unpowered USB hub does not supply enough power to run a laser printer. Unhook the printer. Go to Printers and Faxes - delete the printer. Hook up directly to a USB port. Let the computer re-install the printer.
I have solved this problem, it seems that the cable I used isn't sufficient enough, it was cheap A-B USB cable for printer. I used then the quality cable from my external 3,5" hardrive. I uninstalled all USB related things in device manager, then restarted my computer (just for the case, remove the laptop battery for a while when you are using laptop), then turn on computer, install the laserjet software and then if the message on screen says "connect the printer", do so. Then you should get a messages about correct installing your laserjet and problem is solved :). Good luck, I spent nearly one dat solving this :)
if i delete priter drivers and reinstall is not taking showing error please check cable message showing please check cable now cable is working if i connect other system the same cable is working please give me solution
I am having difficulty installing HP Laserjet 1020 on my Windows XP professional edition. An error "USB device not recognized" comes up when I try to connect the hp 1020 to the USB port.
The same problem when I tried installing it on my Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows XP Home edition.
