Are you talking about the DVD player built into the HT? Make sure it's selected as the output device using the "function" buttons. The HT should say "DVD".

If a different device is plugged into the tv/video audio in jack it wont play in the back two speakers. They work when the dvd player is set in the dvd funtion

Well yeah, the DVD is internal so it can't possibly send an incorrect signal or be wired incorrectly.

What 'different' device are we talking about? It must be digital and transmitting a proper multichannel bitstream.

HTddw670 play only 3.1

The problem sounds like it is the dvd player, have you set-up the audio output menu on the dvd players setup menu? Some dvd units default to a 2 channel stereo output, what is required is you need to enter the setuo menu and enable a dolby digital 5.1 output or the DTS/Bitsteam audio output option. Also be sure to use a digital signal cable connection.

Tv sound on home theater kit

Hi Every one.

Had same problem with my HDMI connection on my sony bravia and sony theatre system, resolved by conecting a scart lead from the theatre system to one of the free scart sockets on the back of the TV, leave your HDMI connection in place as the DVD signal comes from this,

hope this helps!
