Sir,

if it is a single line top to bottom?? sounds like a bad panel. the reason is if it where a buffer module it would run half way

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls confirm that your TV is a Samsung LNS2341WX/XAA 23" Wide HDTV Monitor LCD TV with PC/DVD/ TV Inputs. Offhand:

  • try a power cycle/reset, unplug from the mains for an extended period of time;
  • verify that the connectors at the back are tight. Wiggle them while TV is operational and have somebody observe if there are any changes;
  • confirm if the vertical lines are present on TV, Video (DVD), computer use, or other inputs;
  • try a different outlet or use a voltage regulator similarly used by desktop PCs but confirm that the power/wattage would match the requirement of the TV;
  • unplug all other cables and connect one at a time to check if any of the sources are causing the vertical lines;
  • physically relocate some electrical devices away from the Samsung in the possibility of electrical interference;
  • some other known devices that can cause interference are lamp dimmers, wireless phones, lamps with electronic ballasts;
  • worst case scenario, component/board problem.
Pls post back updates/results of above tests.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

    The cause is one or more shorted transistors either on CRT board or on
    main or both. The colors are red,blue and green, you have a transistor
    for each and a bias trans. check each there are 6 in all

Faulty vertical deflection section. check the yoke vertical winding. maybe its cure from service mode. search online how to apply service mode of you tv brand, model and board chassis number.

No picture. Just a vertical line accross the screen.

When this kind of set comes in for this problem, it is typically caused by a leaky/intermittent diode D402, located next to the heat sink for the vertical deflection IC. I will typically also replace the vertical deflection IC at the same time, just to avoid repeat failures.

How do you fix a white horizontal line across top of Orion TV?

Hello eatkinson,

This denotes a problem with the vertical deflection circuit. This is more then likely the result of the vertical coupling capacitor failing. You will need the schematic diagram of the TV to find the capacitor in question. it is located between the vertical output stage and the vertical deflection winding of the yoke transformer. In addition check the continuity of the vertical winding of the yoke transformer this can cause the same problem. In any event the problem is that the vertical deflection signal is not getting to the yoke transformer or the yoke transformer is malfunctioning.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

Vertical size of picture

You have a number of bad capacitors in the vertical circuit. If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. I'll look up your model to get the parts needed.

Mitsubishis TV Problem

have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?" I would love to save the TV. Hi nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn. "Vertical Collapse?" means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen. this problem can be solved 1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose 2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer check components in vertical section or print loose regards thanks
