Hi,
The simplest way is to type www.routerlogin.com into your internet browser URL address bar. This will take you to your router's menu. It will ask you for a username and password. It might be set to 'admin' and 'password' as default. It is possible that you can just leave it blank.
Then you can change to whatever you like it when you're there.
To encrypt your wireless connection so that nobody can steal it, you can go to Wireless, then Security and Enable WPA or WEP and it'll prompt you to set a password. Do so and write it down somewhere safe.
Now exit the browser and your Wireless Network is protected.

Good Luck and Happy New Year

How do I set up my router so that my neighbors can not use my internet and keep them from down loading.

You must secure the wireless connection. All of this is done by accessing the router properties and go to "security" and make a WEP key. Once this is completed, your connection should show a padlock, Locked. If you have other PC's / laptops in the house you will need to put this WEP key in simply by trying to connect to your secured network. You will get a request box to type in the WEP key. Do so and that laptop will always be able to access your connection. You only do this once.

For instruction son this go to your routers website and download the manual for it.

I have just got a 2nd computer in my home, and i am trying to set up the internet, but i do not know the security key/passphrase? how do i reset my router to get this information?

The router's SSID, passphrase (ie encryption) is configured in the router's wireless configuration. This information is needed to configure the wireless card in the 2nd computer so it can connect to the wireless router.
Please click on this link for my instructions on how to secure your wireless network, configure the wireless router and the wireless card in the 2nd computer ;-

When I am trying to get a Friend Code on Pokemon Pearl everytime I go to the basement and go to the blue screen problem 51099 shows up but I am connected to wifi in advanced setup

--Taken From Nintendo Support--
Error Code: 51099 There appears to be a compatibility issue with the security settings on your router:
Are you using WPA security?
No, I am using WEP security
If you are using a Nintendo DSi, you will be able to connect online and use many online features with WPA security. However, you will not be able to play original Nintendo DS games that are Wi-Fi compatible, as they are only programmed to work with WEP security. In order to play these games online, you will need to do the following (If you are not receiving this error when attempting to connect games online, click here):
  • Change your wireless security to WEP or temporarily disable wireless security if you wish to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
  • If you are unable to log into your router or do not know how, you can check our router look-up page (link) to see if it is listed. If your number is not listed, check any similar s from the same manufacturer for default information. If you are still unable to log into your router, please refer to the router manufacturer or the company that provided it.
  • Make sure your router is not on our list of incompatible routers. If it is, we recommended using a router that is compatible or connecting from a hotspot location.
  • The wireless security settings are typically found under sections labeled 'Wireless', 'Basic Wireless' or 'Wireless Security'.
  • Change the security mode to WEP, and chose your encryption type. The 64-bit encryption type typically uses a 10 character key while the 128-bit encryption type uses a 26 character key. Hexadecimal keys consist of letters A-F and 0-9, whereas ASCII keys have no limitations and are case sensitive. Be sure to use the key that is listed in 'key slot 1' and make sure you are not using a 'passphrase'. For specific information about changing your security type please see your router's manual or contact the manufacturer.
  • Important Note: it is recommended that any changes made to the router are performed from a computer that is wired via Ethernet cable to the router. In addition, any changes made to wireless security must also be adjusted on other wireless devices in the home that use the router (e.g. laptops, other game systems, etc). For instructions on how to change these devices, refer to the user manuals for these devices or contact the manufacturer.
  • Establish a connection in connection files 1-3 on the Nintendo DSi. Make sure you are putting the WEP key into the Nintendo DSi exactly as it appears on your router page.

If the error persists while using WEP (or if you are receiving this error with other Wi-Fi features), follow these steps:
  • Keep trying, as there may be a temporary network issue. If the problem persists, or has been consistent over a period of time, move on to the next step.
  • Configure the Nintendo DSi manually
Please note: if your router is set to broadcast the network but the Nintendo DSi is not finding the access point then a manual setup will not resolve the error. There may be another problem, such as interference, or a basic setting in your router that is causing compatibility issues. Be sure that your router is set to 'Enable SSID broadcast' or 'Enable Wireless broadcast'. If you prefer to keep your network name hidden, verify the correct spelling and case of your router's SSID.
  • Check your router on our router listings page to see if there are any special notes for your router
  • Try changing the channel on your router to 1 or 11. Ensure there are no other wireless devices in the area causing interference. Make sure you are within range of the router.
  • Important Note: it is recommended that any changes made to the router are performed from a computer that is wired via Ethernet cable to the router. Also, any changes made to wireless security must also be adjusted on other wireless devices in the home that use the router (e.g., laptops, other game systems, etc). For instructions on how to change these devices, refer to the user manuals for these devices or contact the manufacturer.
  • Try adjusting the Transmission rate of your router to 1 or 2, and the basic rates of your router to 1-2 mbps.
  • Ensure that your wireless mode is set to a b/g mixed mode, and not an 'n only' mode.
  • Check to see if you have MAC filtering enabled. If you do, be sure that the Nintendo DSi's MAC address is in the 'allowed' list.
  • Try temporarily disabling your router's firewall.
  • Try temporarily disabling your router's wireless security.
  • Important Note: Please be reminded, that any changes made to wireless security must also be adjusted on other wireless devices in the home that use the router (i.e. laptops, other game systems, etc). For instructions on how to change these devices, refer to the user manuals for these devices or contact the manufacturer.
  • Check to see if your router has the latest firmware. Verify this by visiting the support sections of the manufacturer's website, as they often have more current versions than what your router may automatically find. Please follow all manufacturer guidelines for the correct method of updating your router's firmware.
  • If the problem is still persisting try power cycling your router. Unplug the power cable from the router hardware and keep it powered down for 30 seconds to a minute. Plug the power cord back in and wait for the router to finish re-initializing. Test the connection again.
If after trying the steps above you are still receiving this error code, please call 1-800-255-3700 for further assistance.

HELP!!!!!! Trying to enable wpa-psk security on my laptop?

You should set the security on your computer wifi card to wpa-psk and then type in the securitycode which is written in your Zyxel Router.
If this is not possible with your networkcard, change to wpa or wpa2 inside the Zyxel. And do the same procedure with your networkcard, when detected the Router.

Can't connect to Linksys WRT54G when security is enabled

ccmfaniam:
Please make sure that the type of the security on the router should match on the computer as well. Also make sure the SSID on your router is the same in as your computer.
If this does not work, make another profile onto your computer, or simply click on the wireless icon and it should ask you for the security pass, put in the pass and you should be in.
At the moment I would strongly recommend to make another profile on your laptop, right click on the wireless icon, properties, wireless networks, make sure that the use windows to configure is checked and under prefered networks add the profile of the existing router with same SSID and security you are trying to use.
Let me know!
