Question about Pyle PLA2480 Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

PLEASE HELP!!! I have a Pyle PLA2480 car amp and a friend installed it for me, for awhile it worked fine and then one cold night in upstate NY one of the RCA cables broke inside the amp. After removing the broken piece from the inside out I plugged it back in and for starters (because I have to do this everytime I get in my car) to get it to work I have to plug the ground to the amp. then attach half of the hot to REM the other half into the 120batt it won't work on just one then the radio to either one of thoughs now it works great sounds beutiful but the bass-control that I convieniently installed under my steeringwheel does nothing the light comes on but no bass-control. Now that its on and working (except the bass-control) ITS ON and it stays on draining my capasitor and my battery when I shut off my car the only way I can get it to got off is to unplug all three wires. I am pretty handy and would love to fix this problem myself even if I have to go inside and replace parts, I love the sound when it is working propoly but don't want to fork-up for a new one. If anyone has any ideas that could help please let me know I would really love to keep my current amp. PLEASE HELP!!!

The Amp stays on because you have a constant 12V to the Remote.
If your stereo remote is no longer working then run a wire from a 12 volt source that turns on and off with your ignition something like your radio fuse in the vehicle fuse box.
As far as the Bass Knob if it is connected properly and still not working check the line for wire kinks or cuts that may have happened during installation if you cant find any problems you can get a universal bass knob that plugs via your RCA cables for under 20 bucks.
Hope this gives u some ideas.

Hooked the damn thing up power my subs wonderfully for that evening, and all day today, got in this evening and nothing, checked the amp and red light, ok, fine, checked the manual, says the light protects...

probably something corssed in your speaker wiring. be sure that you did not exceed the ohmage capabilities of the amp, and that no speaker wires are crossed, or shorting out on the frame. if you have too many speakers hooked up, that can reduce the ohmage, and your not supposed to go below 2 ohms -per channel, or 4 ohms bridged mono.

I have a pyle 1000w 2 channel amp.just got it last week. last night driving home, stops working. protection light stays on. when i checked it, it was hot. so im assuming the thermal protection kicked on....

keep it in a vented area dont ever cover it position it were nothing will block sounds like it does not have a fan so they sell those fans that you sit your laptop on.they cost about 10 bucks and wire it to your amp remote and ground inputs and it should help it stay cool....

Trouble connecting marine amp to stereo

Hello lizskates814,

You can use either the high level (speaker) or the low-level (RCA's) inputs to the amp, but not both. Choose whichever one sounds the best or is more convenient to install and leave the other disconnected.

Hope this helps.

Amp wont turn on

have you checked the remote wire is supply power? try jumping the main power wire t the remote wire to see if it turn on. Also check that your ground wire is securely making contact.

Amp goes into protect mode after volume is turned up

Not enough juice, check the power and ground connections, another possibility is to have dc in the input, try to use in line filter available from radio shack to cut the dc, also test the with one speaker at the time, you could have a bad speaker (shorted) too.

Amp keeps blowin the two 30amp fuses on the amp.

Make sure that the speaker wires are wired correct at both the amp and the speakers......otherwise it sounds like the typical death of a power acoustik amp (great amps, but prone to a premature death)

Condensation problem!

All electronics have a recommended operating temperature range. This information can be found in your instruction manual.

Here is a possible remedy to your problem. Condensation forms when air temperature is cold AND there is moisture in the air. Protect your amp from this moist environment, and you're less likely to encounter condensation issues. You did not mention where the amplifier is located, so i will assume that it is in the most common installation area - the trunk. Is your trunk sealing properly? Do you have any standing water in the trunk or water leaking into the trunk? If so, correct this and you should be fine. Otherwise, installing a small fan near the amp can draw moisture away from it and help dry this air out - thus preventing condensation from forming.

If the ground terminal is connected to a ground wire, the ground wire isn't connected to a good ground.
