Question about Vtech V.Smile TV Learning System

1 Answer

Our Vsmile won't play

Ours new Vsmile is not moving past the vsmile screen. This happens with both games. It is a brand new system so I don't know if it is a dud or if I didn't hook it up right, although I followed the instructions to a T and besides...it isn't that hard, is it?

I am having the same problem - the screen goes black when I put the cartridge in. It's very frustrating - especially with the kids waiting to play!

This V Smile is garbage.  It won't get a picture at all unless I am applying pressure downwards on all three audio and video cables and even then I can only get to the first VTech intro screen then the power shuts off.  No power cord was supplied and the audio video cord can not be swapped out as it feeds into the console.  This thing is a real piece of ****.   The problem is not my TV as all other game systems or what not I have in the house work just fine.  In terms of quality the VSmile reminds me of the knock off game systems you can buy in the mall kiosks during the holidays that break within the first few hours of playing.

Make sure the system is off before inserting any cartrdiges. Things you can try to get the V.Smile TV Learning System to work:
1) Press the Reset – Press and hold the ON button for about 10 seconds
2) Make sure the game is inserted far enough into the system, and that it is pointing in the right direction. You may occasionally need to clean the contacts.
3) Also, make sure you are using the supplied power cord/adapter, not batteries. Batteries cause more problems than they’re worth.

My Vtech vsmile didn't work a the time I push the power button never happend my batterie are test and are brand new an i try to connect direct with a power supply never work again

There are problems with the power adaptors. Did you use a VSmile power adaptor, or something that just seemed to fit the unit? Using the wrong power adaptor (like unknowingly plugging a Leapfrog power adaptor) into the unit can cause damage to the Vsmile Board.
Push and hold the power (smile) button for one minute, then install fresh batteries. if it powers back up, then try:

Dirty Smartridges (the game cartridges) are to blame for about 90% of VTech Vsmile products not powering up.
In some instances, the cartridge slot on the unit itself can become damaged and will cause no power up.
Kids (of all ages) can dirty a smartridge in less than a second, and render the whole system dead.

I cant get the bloody controller working, and just have an anoying, little thing come on, repeating vsmile, drives me nuts, what am i doin wrong? brand new system!!!! helllp me!!!

Make sure the controller doesn't need batteries, and make sure it's plugged into the proper input on the vsmile system. If it's permanently attached to the vsmile system via a wire, then you may have a defective controller/vsmile and you should take it back and exchange it for another one.

I hope this helps :)

James

V.smile console - picture jumping up and down on 37" LCD screen

I found this with ours and I bought a new system and the AC adapter to go with the new system batteries were getting crazy anyhow the kids hooked up the old one to the vsmile adapter and it stopped. So from experience you need fresh batteries or only the vsmile 9v adapter, other brand adapters also caused the jumping!

Vsmile game unit

Try cleaning the contacts on the games. Push back the sleeve on the game and clean good with alcohol. If this doesn't do it, unplug it, and clean the contacts inside the unit with a qtip.

Hope this helps!

Vsmile will not turn on

HI! Have a few ideas for you. First, are the batteries brand new never used good batteries? Also, are you sure they are in the correct way? If so, try to reset the system. Unplug all cords from the Vsmile. Then, for a full timed minute, press down BOTH buttons on the front of the console. After the minute, plug everything back in and try to power it up. If this does not work for you, please contact Vtech Customer support. You can reach them at 18005212010. Hope you find this helpful! Good luck! :)

Vsmile home unit and 2 Vsmile pockets no longer work! GR!!!

You should definately call customer service! I had to do this with our vsmile and they were very helpful with tech issues immediately. You can call them at 1.800.521.2010. One thing to try, they had me do this on the home unit. Unplug everything, then hold down both buttons on the front for one full timed minute. This resets the unit. See if this works for you. They will ask you to do it on the phone first anyway. If not, I hope they are able to suggest other helpful solutions for you! If not, you can find a good deal on a new one on ebay. Good luck! I know how much the kids enjoy this unit!! :)
