Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
I have started having a failure to boot almost every other time I turn the computer on. I get an error message saying that the file windows/system32/hal.dll is either missing or corrupt and the boot process stops. Luckily I have Norton's "Go Back" and can go back one or two days and get the computer to boot. I have saved a copy of hal.dll on an external drive but cann't acess it since I can not boot.
I ran ChkDsk but that didn't help.
I don't want to restore the complete Windows XP system and have to reinstall all the updates and programs I have.
Any ideas on keeping this file working?
Thank you very much.
Try to repair it using a windows xp cd

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
