Need to know how to what's wrong & how to fix

My daughters DS powers upbut then shuts off immiediatly. The light does not comeon when you charge it, and I have also tried switching the batteries out of my other daughters DS tosee if it will work but it does not. So it cannot be a problem with the battery. What can be the problem & how can I fix it?

Re: need to know how to what's wrong & how to fix

I have this problem with my SP, the battery wont take a charge from the device. Only solution for me was to buy an external battery charger and charge the battery externally...

Has this happened since you bought it? if so sell and get another one or blow in the battery slot leave it open & empty for 1 hour then try again

DS Light shutting off randomly

I know this may sound stupid and obvious, but are you hitting the power switch while playing? I used to have the same problem when playing "intense" games like racing when I would get totally absorbed and then all of a sudden my DS would shut off and I'd be like WTF?! I took it apart and switched batteries and found nothing wrong with it. One day my sister was watching me and asked "Why did you shut it off?" and then I knew. The power switch is very sensitive if you hit it even just a little it could be enough to shut the power off. I suggest just monitering what happens when the power goes off. Is it a specific game that shuts it off? Enviornmental effects? It should tip you off to the problem. If all else fails you could contact Nintendo and just see what they have to say. =)

Nintendo DS Lite - does not charge

i would suggest trying to find what the issue is, if you know anyone who has a different charger, try it on your daughter's ds. if it still doesn't work, it's a DS problem...if it's under warranty, go to whatever store you bought it at and have them fix or replace it. If you try the different charger and it DOES work, then the only problem is the then all you have to do is go buy a new charger...hope this helps.

DS lite, power is on but nothing happens

Ditto... except my daughter is 10. Both screens remain black, are fully charged and green light stays on for more than 4 minutes.

Nintendo DS Lite shuts off randomly.

I'm a certified electronic technician and I must say NDS internal screen ribbon connectors are junk! Basically The ribbon connectors are so sketchy that it is not recommended to ever unclip them, if you do there's a good chance it will ever work again once reconnected due to how the connector pins slightly crimp into the ribbon pads.

When a NDS boots up the the onboard firmware constantly tests the LCD screen connections, if there is a break in the connection the NDS will shut down. If your NDS randomly turns off, fails to boot, or powers of when you move the hinge it is most likely the ribbon (flex film) or ribbon connector has failed. The only option to to replace the affected LCD screen.
