Question about Hotpoint 23 in. BF50 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Dishwasher takes ages to do the job

Just lately our BF50 is taking over 4 hours to complete the wash. Main problem seems to be the time it takes to fill and start. Once it does it works fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks, mate. I've checked the fillpipe and that's OK.

I'll ask my engineer to check the screen when he comes.

There is a screen in the fill valve it could be getting plugged, or you have a kink in the fill pipe , prideapplianceser@sti.net

Probably heating element gone, or could be the heating circuit relay on the on board computer.
Not easy DIY jobs unless you are confident.
I found one pin (pin 3) on the relay had blown away, taking with it some of the PCB board, but other have experienced the solder just melting off the pin.

I bought some spare Relays, and rerouted the tracks on the PCB, and it has sort of fixed it - well it heats and seems to be working. The timer is still telling me 73mins instead of 35mins, though the cycle only takes 35mins.

Long Cycle times on ADP6940/5 6th Sense Dishwasher

It might not be getting enough water.
Try fully taking power off of the dishwasher and turn it on/off a couple times.

If its your board, it will take a while to fix it,first check the main settings on your front display then try locating the board and check for any switches or knobs.

Did you just get this dishwasher ?

If you've tried this things with no luck, respond with more details.

Ariston LS 2020 taking more than two hours to go through cycle.

Ariston and on and on...lol

The water temp thermostat is to blame or the water is not heating.Basically what happens is the washer fills with cold water and starts to wash and heat at the same time.Once the water reaches a certain temperature it moves onto the next stage of the wash program. If the water is not heating or the thermostat is not working the programmer wont get the signal to move on.Hope this helps.

Whirlpool Dishwasher GU3600XTSB 3 - 4 hours to complete washing

Wash time is determined by the cycle you select, the incoming water temperature and the installation location. The new machines will heat the water to a predetermined temperature and it takes roughly 1 minute for each degree of rise, If the incoming water is at 120 deg and the wash cycle wants 165 than it will take 45 minutes just for that one cycle to complete, Factor in an outside wall with poor insulation or lower water temperature and it could take even longer. I have a Bosch dishwasher Model number SHU4302UC. The dishwasher takes about four hours to wash dishes. During the rinse cyle it can be running for over an hour and I will open it to look in side and find...

possibilities are that of an inefficient heating element ie..scaled up if hard water area especially. whilst the cycle is being completed then the components are working... so other than the element check the drainage for blockages (slow draining adds time) & also water pressure as low pressure adds time to the filling..

Dishwasher runs for a long time

If your dishwasher's cycle times are too long, check these:

Water pre-heating
Cycle not completing
Water pre-heating Yourdishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering thedishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat thewater.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming watertemperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running thekitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase thetemperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot waterheater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cycle runs for 2-3 or more hours

If your dishwasher's cycle times are too long, check these: Water pre-heating Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Cycle not completing f the cycle doesn't complete, check these:
Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

Wash cycle

momrules, it could vary depending on the water entering the dishwasher. On a heavy cycle normal time is about 85 minutes not including thermal holds ( pauses that heat the water). On a normal wash, 68 to 75 minutes not including thermal holds. If the water entering the dishwasher is not at least 120 to 140 degrees the dishwasher will pause in cycles to heat the water before advancing. So 120 minutes is not unrealistic. The heaters in the dishwasher are low wattage and will only heat the water approx. 2 degrees every 5 minutes. Catriver.

Too long for a cycle

There are a lot of reasons could cause this issue. Could you provide us more details (if you have) which cycle's stage "takes" this time (filling water, washing process, draining etc... ) You answer will allow us to direct you the solution. Good luck !
