When i bought my 03 passat It came with new headlights fitted, the led running lights have replaced my dipped lights, however the led lights will only work sometimes, sometimes only one side will work. so i know the lights work, all fuses are ok. so I think it is either a wiring problem or the switch on the dash is faulty?

when after market units are not fitted correctly the problems become difficult to advise on a fix as the only person who knows what was done is the person doing the fitting. Best suggestion is to take it to an accredited auto electrician for a diagnosis as they may have experience fitting this after market item and be aware of where the fault will be.

Yes you can. I bought led headlights for my 1948 fod. They are nice and bright. Before you replace your head lights check to make sure you have a good ground from the battery to the body.

The problem with HID lights is that they require 12 volts or more to work. Daytime running lights on require 6-9 volts from the module. So when the original lights are replaced, the daytime running lights will not supply enough voltage to the HID ballasts to turn them on. The result? No Daytime Running lights. Another alternative is to purchase LED strips and place them around your headlights with a fused accessory power from the ignition switch. When the car is on the strips light up and you have Daytime Running Lights!

There could be a few reasons why the LED bulbs and the standard bulbs are not functioning properly in your Passat B6 estate:

1. The LED bulbs you installed may be incompatible with the car's electrical system. Make sure you are using LED bulbs that are specifically designed for use in your car and that they are compatible with the car's electrical system.
2. There may be an issue with the car's wiring or electrical system. Check the wiring to the headlights to make sure there are no loose connections or damaged wires.
3. The car's fuse for the headlights may be blown. Check the fuse and replace it if necessary.
4. The car's headlight switch may be faulty. Try replacing the switch to see if that fixes the problem.

I've just changed one in my Passat, if your car is fitted with projector lense dipped lights, here's how....
1, switch off all lights and ign.
2, remove rubber waterproof cap from rear of lamp.
3, reach in and pull the bulb and it's connector out, it is held in place by 3 spring prongs, (space is very tight but it can be done with a little patience).
4. remove the old bulb from the connector.
5. making sure not to touch the glass area of the new bulb, fit it to the connector.
6. install the bulb into the rear of the lense with the tab pointing downwards, it may require a little wriggling to get it located,
7. once the bulb is located in the rear of the lense, push gently untill you hear a click, bulb is now locked into position.
8. refit the rubber waterproof cap.
9. test your lights.
10. if working, enjoy a nice mug of coffee. (I did)

It may not reset for 50 drive cycles. It would be quicker to get it scanned by the dealer who just sold it to you and ask them for the code. If it does come back as a small evap leak then they can clear the code and you can be on your way. If the vehicle was left running during you refilling the fuel, it would trigger this code. Just don't tell them that when you take it in. Play dumb and tell them "it just came on"! let me know if you need anything else.
