My 360 is very noisy on start up and even worse when playing a game or watching a movie. This problem has just started and has become very annoying as you have to turn the volume of the tv high to try and drown the constant noise. In some cases there is a fault screen pops up telling me "to play this game please insert disc". If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

It depends, is it noisy when you play a game from DVD or just when it is running ? From Xbox, you can expect that it is just as noisy as computer without a silent fan.

If it is noisy when playing a game, it is normal since it's loading everything from the disk and Microsoft made the disk to spin fast so you won't have to spend a lot of time waiting before the game loads.

Then, if it is only when you play a game - i recommed for you to install it to your hard-drive, that way the console won't have to use the disk to load everything.

Is it normal for xbox one to make a noise whilst installing a game

Didn't Microsoft recall a number of Xbox ones for faulty DVD drives? You might want to ask them about that.

Generally buzzing noises are caused by the motor spinning "off balanced" DVDs or DVD's which are not concentric.
So does it happen with all DVDs or just one or two?

One day when i went to play my xbox i turned it on. It made a weird noise it had never made before. Then i realized my TV had no picture or sound, my controller won't connect and the usb ports are also...

It could be a couple different things , the cpu/vga fan , or the dvd drive are the two most common . If you can tell wich is causing the noise that helps a lot . If it's the fan , I would get a can of compressed air A.S.A.P. , more than likely if this fixes it , it will only be temporary . In the case of the fan making noise it's normally about to die or has some sort of blockage ( either way you don't want to even risk running your system without having it repaired / replaced ) . If you have to open up the Xbox 360 it's not a bad idea to put Arctic Silver #5 on both the CPU / VGA then replace the Heatsinks ( minus the horrible X-Clamps , check for a full tutorial ) . If the sound is coming from the dvd drive you can easily test by swapping out discs , running a disc drive cleaning device / kit , disconnecting the dvd drive & booting your system without it or with a compatible replacement .
One last thing , take note of any blinking lights ( RROD , E74 , Etc.. ) as this could be causing your noise issue or just a symptom .

Why does my xbox make a buzzing noise?

Hi the buzzing noise could be anything from the dvd drive to noise fans.

if you open the dvd tray and you still here the noise then this points to the fans being noisy, it might be that your xbox is starting to over heat and the fans are now working a lot harder and faster than normal

try the following
make sure air vents are free from dust use vac if needed to **** all the dust out
make sure the xbox is not being used on carpet or on top of anything else such as dvd player or sky box as these will cause over heating fast.

after doing the above see if you still have the noise if you do try standing the xbox up on its side to see if that stops the noise.

if it dont stop then the chances are your stuck with it till your xbox goes wrong then you could get the fans replaced.

the only moving parts are the 2 fans and the dvd drive so if you open the tray and the noise stops then its the dvd drive thats noisy, if it is that then their is nothing you can do unless the drive packs up and you need to replace it.

if the noise is still their with the drive open then its the 2 fans at the back that are noisy, its probably due to the xbox over heating which is the best trick and you will probably find you will have the dreaded rrod pretty soon so make sure its got good air flow around it so it can cool the best it can do

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Noisey when turned on. Fast clicking sound. Almost a buzz. Otherwise works OK.

If this is when putting in a disk or starting the wii, it's normal. It's just the wii running.

Ps2 noisey

It sounds like it's over-heating and not running right. You may have to get a new PlayStation 2, and I recommend getting a slim PS2 they last a lot longer.

Ps2 fan

Is your machine a old one or a slimline version??
Slimline version have a micro fan and can be replace it.The old one is even better because are cheap and you have a lot choice.Just make sure you get the right one.I believe is a ball bearing fan so if the balls inside get dirty or sticky ..or just defective from nature....nothing more you can do then get a new part.the noise is cming from micro vibration in rotation and all that 2000-3000 rpm in a minute make a lot noise

Loud noises

Depending on the age of the system, replace or ignore.
Its your DVD drive, unfortunatly most drives are noisy -FACT- so sometimes you have to just live with it- check the back ,if manfactured in 2005 ( a lot of bad drives from this year) might be worth ringing microsoft to see if an exchange is possible.-
But if its not showing any loss of play/loading or scratching the discs - or showing error- please place disc in a xbox 360 console...You may just have to put up with it.
