I'm running Vista and whenever I exit IE 7.0, I get an error message that it was shut down incorrectly, it runs thru a diagnostic and the auto restarts. Can anyone help figure out the resolution to this problem?

Thanks

However generally you can open computer or my computer .. go to the c: drive go to program files and look for internet explorer folder .. in that folder you could find an icon which looks like IE but would be written iexplorer.. U can use this as your IE .. rt click send to desktop and you will have an icon for it in the desktop. you can rename it to anything you like once it is in your desktop screen..

Im getting error messages at the bottom of my page:saying page done but with errors using ie 7 vista system

Hi,
You can try running the fix from the following website on the affected machine to reset the IE 7 to factory defaults.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

In case the above link doesnot work. Following is the manual method for reseting IE

To use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature from Control Panel, follow these steps:
  1. Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).
  2. If you use Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER: inetcpl.cplIf you use Windows Vista, click Start Collapse this imageExpand this image vistastartbutton.jpg. Type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER: inetcpl.cplThe Internet Options dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
  5. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
  6. Start Internet Explorer again.
Thanks for using fixya

Internet Explorer 7 shuts down with message mshtml. dll 7.0.6000.16827 I am running xp home

Try this link (if you can get IE to stay on long enough).

http://www.technipages.com/internet-explorer-crashes-with-error-in-mshtmldll.html

If you can't, I recommend that you download (or get a copy) of FireFox, install it and then go to the site for the IE patch.

Please read the information carefully as it is specific to only a certain level of Windows XP.

Hope this helps!

I am downloading software with problems

Are you using another browser other than IE? Some other browsers use the IE engine and will trigger this message. Also look at you running processes: Press Ctrl+Alt+Del (in Vista then select Task Manager) When task manager appears Click the Processes Tab, then click the word Description in the 5th coloum at the top of that coloum to sort on description. Scroll down to the "I" and see if you see "Internet Explorer" as a running process IF SO, and you know you have shut down Internet Explorer right click on IE and then select End Process and then answer yes. When All instances of IE are remove from the processes then try to reinstall your software. Let me know if this helped you!

How do you fix the internet explorer

You do not say which version of Windows you are using or the version of Internet Explorer so here is a general idea to fix.

If you are running XP or Vista download the new version IE8 and install it. Here is the link:

Outlook Free/Busy error

Hope this solves it for you! Here's the official word from Microsoft:
If you receive one or more of these error messages, you may experience performance issues until Outlook finishes the reconciliation process for the .ost file or for the .pst file. The following gear icon is displayed in the status bar while Outlook checks the data file in the background: Collapse this imageExpand this imageol2007gearicon.jpg When this icon disappears, the .pst file or the .ost file is reconciled. If you exit Outlook while the gear icon is present, reconciliation must restart the next time that you run Outlook. We recommend that you leave Outlook running until the gear icon disappears before you exit Outlook.

An incorrectly shut down .ost file or .pst file may occur for one of the following reasons:
  • Antivirus scanning of the file
  • Forced Microsoft Windows shutdown before the Outlook.exe process shuts down completely
  • Outlook add-ins
If you see this issue frequently, and you have to exit Outlook shortly before you shut down your computer, it may be better to shut down Windows while Outlook is still running. We recommend that you do this instead of exiting Outlook and then shutting down Windows shortly after that.

Exiting Outlook 2003 running in Vista OS

There is a compatibility update from Microsoft for Vista and Outlook 2003:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929427
It doesn't address specific problems there, but it tells you how to get the compatibility updates. Sounds like a good place to start.

If you are not able to see the item see at the top of the window and "tick" show updates. It will display the IE installation. Tell me if it worked else you will have to manually uninstal it.
