My gogear is not working

  1. If your Philips GoGear is not turning on, the battery is more than likely shot. Open up the back of the unit by removing any screws you find, and then carefully removing the back. A guitar pick can help separate the back cover without scratching anything.
  2. Find the part number off of your battery and go to:
  3. Type in your part number and click Go.
  4. When your new battery comes in, install it in replace of the old one.
  5. When your GoGear is back together, plug it in to the charger and let it charge for about an hour before attempting to turn it back on.
  6. If you are still having problems with your device, you will need to contact Philips at: 1-888-744-5477, Monday - Saturday 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM EST, Sunday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST Excluding Major Holidays

My mp3 won't turn on nor will anything read it

You may have to change the battery - difficult with this model.
•Battery capacity: 750 mAh
•Battery Type: Li-ion

But before you try that, go ahead and get the new software for the model from Philips website - specifically, the new Device Manager, and run a Repair.

RCA M4204

I suppose you tried to load the batteries or tried different one.
With new batteries you can try to clap gently on the battery side. If it run :: bad contact. good luck to solde the bad contact.
If not the microprocessor might be dead..sorry buy a new one.
If get the sound but nothing on the screen then it might be dirt, bad contact or microprocessor. Not easy to clean a contact of a lcd screen. So be VERY gentle if you try, cleaning with pure alcool without betteries of course and let it dry before putiing batteries back

My mp3 player won't turn on without charger being hooked up

What kind of iPod/mp3 player do you have?

I know of two possible solutions:

  1. If you are like me and wait until the last second to charge, it will refuse to turn or do anything until I connect it to the charger. Even then, it will take up to 5 minutes to get enough juice to actually work.
  2. If the above is not the case, chances are you have a problem with the battery. iPod batteries can be very pricey but easily found (,, etc.). In my opinion, it's like a printer running out of ink. It's almost cheaper to buy a new one.

Try pushing the reset button on the bottom, next to the USB socket, then try switching on again.

If this doesn't work, then you may have corrupt firmware. Try a factory restore, as follows:

Open Philips Device Manager.

Whilst pressing and holding the [VOL+] button on the player, connect to the PC.

Continue to hold [VOL+] until told to release, then follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-load the firmware.

Turns off when press play!!!

if it is fairly old or often used then the battery life might be running out and that might be the problem so if it isn't too expensive then i would try going somewhere to buy a new battery for it

Left connected when shutdown

This happens to me every other time I connect to charge the battery. I remove the screws on the back and remove and reinstall the battery then back to normal but still without a full charge.
