You can remap the keys but honestly if you just got it I would return it in case there are other problems you haven't noticed yet.

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. Hi I have a Acer Aspire T180 Desktop and have fitted a new SATA HD as the original went down. I am trying to reload Vista but when I get to a paoint passed loading Product key it asks to Load drivers ??...

You will need to go to a working computer and go to this web site:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/aspire_t180.html
Download the drivers onto a flash drive or have them burned to a CDROM/DVD and bring them to your Acer and upload/point to them on the flash/cdrom/dvd, should fix you right up.

Unable to locate indication of caps lock on or off

On the keyboard, there should be an area to the right top that will light up when you click the caps lock button. Typically this key is found above the shift key on the left hand side of the keyboard.

On my Acer Aspire 5670 keyboard layout the 'shift 2' key gives me quotation marks (") instead of the 'at' (@) symbol which is printed on the key...any idea how I can change this?

Yes, go to the Control Panel and then to "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options", from there choose "Regional and Language Options" click on the Languages tab, click on the Details button and finally on the Add button within the window, choose English (United States) as Input Language (or the language you are comfortable with), check the button on Keyboard layout/IME: and click on US.
Finally click OK on that window, then on the Text Services window (the one you are now), choose English (United States) (or the language you chose), and US as layout. click OK and restart Windows.
