TV wont turn off

When I push the POWER button to turn the TV/DVD off, I lose the audio and the set doesnt turn off. Further more when I lose audio I cant turn it back up. But when I unplug the set and push the POWER button it all works again. So to turn my power off, and reset my audio I have to unplug the set. Any ideas of what might be wronge? thnx J

ApprenticeIT COULD BE THAT THERE IS SOME METAL DEBRI IN BETWEEN THE TWO BUTTONS ON THE MOTHER - CIRCUIT - BOARD
YOU CAN UNPLUG THE TV
OPEN IT UP
THERE IS I BELIEVE 4 SCREWS THAT HOLD THE BLACK COVER ON THE BACK
THEN THERE SHOULD BE TWO BUTTONS THAT HOLD THE CIRCUIT BOARD
PULL IT OUT VERY CAREFULLY AND LOOK OUT FOR DEBRI.
YOU COULD CLEAN IT WITH DISTILLED ALCOHOL AND A SOFT BRUSH
YOU WILL HAVE TO UNPLUG THE SPEAKER CONNECTOR ON THE LEFT SIDE
ALSO ANOTHER CONNECTOR THAT COME FROM THE TUBE
