It is a friends laptop. She deleted the program files on the laptop and it will not start up. It is an Aspire 3000 series. All I want to do for her is to reset the pc. The operating system was pre-installed.

I can not even get to the desktop to check the recycle bin to see if the files are there. When I turn on the laptop I get a blue screen. It is checking the file system. Windows is verifying the files and folders on the drive. I will let this run but it has been running for about 10 minutes now and it still says 0% complete.

    The model number is ZL5

  • yedah1978 Dec 31, 2008

She does not have as they are lost somewhere. She has tried to look for them but to no avail.

  • yedah1978 Dec 31, 2008

will give it a shot. The check disk is going at the moment. it is at 20%. If this does not work I will go with the other option you gave me.......

Do you have a reformat cd that came with the laptop? Some laptops have the files already on the harddrive. What model do you have? and what operating system are you using? You may be able to use system restore to go back to a date before you deleted the program files.

By deleting the program files the operating system is no longer installed. Does the machine boot? Are the files in the recycle bin where you can just restore them ?

If restoring the files from the recycle bin is not an option you will need to reload the system. You should have a recovery disk that came with the computer? I will need the exact model number to be able to tell if the restore files are on the harddrive and how to instruct you to enter setup. the model number should be located on the rear of the machine.

Does she have the restore/recovery cds that came with the computer ?

    TERRI RODDEN Dec 31, 2008

do you see four small buttons at the very top right of the keyboard, might be above it a little bit. the second one should have an E on it. Try rebooting and pressing that button.

    TERRI RODDEN Dec 31, 2008

I am doubting that you will be able to enter that mode outside of windows... ok fingers crossed you have a system with the files installed on the harddrive for recovery.
    1. reboot system and repeatedly press F2 until you enter the BIOS.
    2. Check that the Acer disk-to-disk recovery is ENABLED.
    3. Make sure that the D2D Recovery is ENABLED.
    4. Save changes and reboot.
    5. As the system reboots when the Acer logo comes up hit the ALT key and the F10 key at the same time. ( u must be quick).
6.You should now be in the System Recovery screen, follow the directions and the prompts.

    TERRI RODDEN Dec 31, 2008

The check disk is only checking your harddrive for failure, you can reboot and not waste the time checking it. You already know that your harddrive is fine, that you manually deleted the files.
Reboot the system and follow the instructions in my last post. The system recovery is very easy to follow.

if it asks for a password upon entering the recovery .. unless it has been changed the factory default is six zeros ... 000000

Wespro n720 hanging at loading os image how to solve this problem

You don't state the OS but usually it is a damaged system file.
On XP you can try this: Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It`ll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows. Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts". On Win 7 or Vista: Ctrl+Alt+Delete won`t work, you have to use some windows password recovery software. I recommend Windows Password Reset Deluxe

Hi guys. I asked for help for my presario 900 before & I thought it was a is problem. I accidentally deleted my os when I was trying to delete a media file. I deleted the file from my computer instead...

If you deleted the OS, there will be no safemode....It sounds like you will need to reload the OS. I suggest that you extract the HD and backup all of your files before you do anything....
