Question about Brother IntelliFax-2820 Laser Fax

1 Answer

Can only recieve some faxes

I work for a retail company where 8 diffrent stores fax into our hub fax which is a Brother Intellifax 2820. Just recently we can no loger recieve faxes from two out of our eight stores and there have been no changes with either of the faxes in that time frame. The hub fax sometimes says "reciving" when the two stores fax but nothing comes through. When I am at the two stores faxing to the hub fax the maching says "No Answer From Remote Fax." However the faxes at the two stores are able to recieve and send faxes to other fax machines with no problems. Do you know of anything that might be the cause of this?

Are the phone line provider systems the same at all stores? Meaning, do any of them use voice over internet protocol (VOIP)systems that send information through computer modems?

How do i get my brother intellifax 2820 to time stamp the faxes i receive.

From everything that I've seen I don't see any way to tim stamp incoming faxes. Almost all fax machines should automatically time stamp outgoing faxes unless the user has removed that function for some reason. If you are getting faxes from people that don't include time stamps than the next best thing is to use the journaling feature. The 2820 can print a journal of past incoming faxes that will include timestamps of the past faxes recieved in either 6,12,24 hour or 2, 7 day intervals. The default is every 50 faxes. To change the settings:

Press Menu/Set, 2,4,2
2. Journal Period
Use Arrows to choose an interval
Press Menu/Set
Press Stop/Exit

Sending and receiving faxes on legal size paper.

There should not be a problem with TX on LGL paper. If you want to configure the machine to recieve LGL on a regular basis: Press "MENU" 1-3. Then use the up/down arrows to select LGL. "MENU", "EXIT". That should do it. Good luck!
