Ok ,,, from what I can see you move the little slider thing on the front of the laptop ( the one that opens the lid) and HOLD IT to the open position until the Wireless status light comes on. It should start looking for wireless networks as soon as it is enabled.

you can try to use some resume download software which will keep the status of the downloads for you when there is a session timeout on the server and resume the download next time you connect to the server.
The Acer Aspire netbook I bought has a switch on it to connect to the WiFi Internet G. If you want to use the dongle to communicate on the Internet, then first try to use the built in Wifi to install the driver for it.
you didn't mention which version of windows are using so i am going to assume that you have windows XP if that is not the case then let me and i can provide you with an alternate solution.
1. click on the start button 2. click on run 3. type ncpa.cpl 4. right-click on local area connection(if using ethernet cable) 5. single-left-click on internet protocol (tcp/ip) 6. click on properties 7. click on set dns servers manually instead of obtaining automatically 8. enter 188.8.131.52 and 184.108.40.206 as the primary and secondary servers. 9. restart the computer
if it still doesn't work 1. click on the start button 2. click on run 3. type cmd 4. click ok 5. type nslookup www.google.com 6. hit enter
have you checked control panel internet connections to see if your connection is even showing in there
If it is I would right click then status and then repair
if that does'nt help then you may need the driver updated
wireless and the the internet ,fuckin night mare.ok double click on wireless icon if you can access configuration youre using wireless utility config,if you cant youre using windows config.
double click on wireless network icon ,click properties,goto wireless networks check(put tick)use windows config.close.navigate to internet options click connections make sure never dial is clicked .click lan settings .tick use proxy server then click bypass proxy server then untick use proxy server.click detect settings.close.click advanced scroll down to ssl and tls make sure all three are ticked this should solve your prob.you could update your IE also.
