I am stumped and need help. I go to look at my favorites and it is gone. I get an error message saying that favorites points to a location that is unavailable. However, when I try to save a location that was on my favorites it says it is already there do I want to write over it. So it is there and the computer can obviously recognize it but when I select the star I see nothing and then get that error message.
I have found the favorites folder and tried to import it and that doesn't work. I don't know what else to do. I can see history in the favorites section - just not my favorites.
Has anyone had this problem and if so, can you please tell me how to fix it.
Thanks so much

Re: Missing Favorites in IE7
It has been noticed that if Favorites folders (including subfolders) lose their system attribute they may not appear in the Organise Favorites window. Try resetting the system attribute from the cmd window using the following command (make sure the path is correct for your machine). ATTRIB -S C:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites /S /D

NOTE: When I googled this I discovered the BEX error (code) also is used with other applications and browsers.

Just click on favorites on the top of the page of internet explorer(located alongside the section where you could see files, view, etc..) then click Add to Favorites. Then just click Add. You could also create folders for your favorites if you'd like and you could see on the favorites tab as well.
Hope this helps! Thank you for using FixYa!
if you lost all your favorites and bookmarks, it can only mean that the cleaning software deleted your files. if thats the case, your toolbars were also probably uninstalled. downloading the toolbar agian should solve the problem.
Had the same problem. Went to the IE8 home page (Microsoft). They are supporting IE8 at no cost until Dec 31. Wait time was minimal, tech took control of my computer and fixed the problem you described in a few seconds. Sorry, I do not remember the exact steps.
go to View In IE----> Select Toolbards---->Click on the option Customize-----> a new window appears showing the tools or option to be added or removed (try to see whether favourite option is present them and try add to them...)
