Incoming Email Freezes Computer for Seconds and Stops Work

As I received Email my computer stops working for the few seconds that it takes for the email to come in. If i get several in a row, it freezes for a longer time. Sometimes the screen I am working on disappears. I need my incoming email to arrive in the background and not disturb my current work. Help!

I would ensure that the computer isn't infected with a virus or spyware. Two good programs to remove spyware are Lavasoft Ad-aware 2008 and Spybot search and destroy. If you search for those two names, be aware that there are many programs that have similar names as the two above programs. Those are the only two spyware programs I trust. Any other programs have a chance of putting more spyware on your computer than they take off.
To scan for viruses Trend Micro has an online scanner called House Call that is good for online virus scanning.

The problem you are having isn't an Email problem but a problem with lots of programs running in the background. I would also check for programs that are automaticlly running at startup.

This could bea eting on your downloader- go in to your prefrances and see if there is a setting to allow other things to run while emails are downloading. Hope this helps. Matt. Please rate me.

Incoming emails are not appearing in the inbox folder of Microsoft Outlook 2010.


Could be your Outlook profile got corrupted somehow. If you use your account settings on another PC w/Outlook does the trouble follow? Or is it strictly w/your PC? Obviously, other profiles are working fine (your partner's). One solution might be to backup your .pst file to the C: drive or a USB drive, completely delete your old profile, and build a new one. Once your confirm that email is working properly, then attempt to reload your old .pst file to get all your old email back.

Something else you could try is to open Outlook in Safe Mode. This will run Outlook with minimal addons in order to eliminate the possibility that some sort of addon is the culprit.

You can use one of these methods to start Outlook using a command line switch:
Hold Ctrl key as you click the Outlook shortcut.
If you use Vista or Windows 7, type outlook.exe /safe in the Start Search field on the Start menu then press Enter.

Why doesn't it work correctly?


Also, make sure nothing is in your Outbox folder. If any emails are stuck in this folder, it will cause issues.

Yes,it possible to trace all incoming & outgoing mail of a official mail from anywhere.cuz the mail uses their server access through POP3 & SMTP for transferring the mail..

Try checking what addons are running in IE, it could be a Software conflict , aslo update flash/java/shockwave
also, try loading the page through a proxy

Cannot receive bellsouth email in outlook 2003


What is the anti virus program you have? Try to disable it and check.
Restart the computer in safe mode with NW :
Turn on the computer and start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until u get advanced boot options -> select safe mode with NW and loging to the user account. Check if you are able to recieve e-mails?

Incoming fax freezes system


Try installing the fax controller again, make sure to turn off fax machine, reboot computer and then after trying turning on your fax and send another document.

1. How to stop receiving duplicate email messages

There are a few things you can check to stop duplicate email messages.

Start by checking Rules to be sure that copies are not being made to the Inbox, and make sure that all your rules end in "Stop Processing" actions.

Then check the task manager to be sure that there is only one instace of Outlook running.

Two instances of outlook.exe running can produce two messages arriving at the same time.

You will need to then determine why two instances of Outlook were running in the first place.

Another thing you can do is to delete/remove ALL your e-mail accounts and recreate them. This worked for some people.  

Finally, another person had this happen when he had two e-mail accounts set up - using two e-mail addresses, but the same POP3 incoming and same SMTP outgoing.

What happened is that the second account was getting the e-mails from the POP3 server before they were actually deleted after the first account was finished.

If this is the problem you can disable the receive on the second account.

If you have just a few duplicates, it may be easiest to manually remove them. For emails, this is no problem but for any other Outlook item it is easiest to view the items in a table view, then select the duplicates, then delete them.

Click either names or subjects (or any shown field) in the column header (in the gray area) to gather similar items together.

You can then delete all the duplicates you find.
