Solve Installer issues

Many have been having an issue when installing the SIMS2 PETS expansion pack (EP) and Glamour Life EP.  The best way to resolve this is:
1. BACK UP your game folder first (usually: users + your folder + Documents + EA Games).  You want to back up the EA folder.
2. Download (do not install yet) the SIMS2 COMBO UPDATE patch at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18988
3. If you have already had the issue (which you probably did, otherwise you would not be reading this), delete your SIMS 2 folder from the HD and the EA games folder from the location mentioned above.  Yes, I know, it is painful but you saved what you needed, so stay with me.
4. Reinstall your SIMS 2 game (the base game).  Run it and make sure it works fine.  This will create a new EA Games folder where the old one was.
5. Now install the PETS expansion pack. If you want, start it to make sure it works fine.  All should be OK.
6. Now run the Combo pack. It will scan your HD to find the SIMS folder and what you need.  A window will open allowing you to select the install. Do it and install it.  If you click the arrow next to the installer options you will see there are patches for all the EP's, but they will be grayed except for the one you need.
7. Install your next expansion pack and run the combo patch installer again, now selecting the appropriate pack to patch.  Again, all others will be grayed except for the one you need.
8. Keep doing this with every expansion you install thereafter.  What the patch does is it updates each expansion pack to make sure it works by solving issues that came up after the release and will update everything up to December 2007.
9. After you are done, copy your original saved EA Games folder back into the location you had it.  You will need to hit 'replace' as SIMS will have installed a new EA Games folder in its place.  It is OK, this is all your games saved data.
10. Start SIMS2 and go look for your saved game!

Login password

The solution to this is tricky. and may cost you some money. and, if this is a file vault protected user account, you are just plain stuck. Assuming you want to save all your data read all before proceeding. Get a second Hard Drive, install an OS on it if there isn't already one. Boot to that HD, Set up as "NEW" do not transfer any info. when you get to it, create a user account that is different and obvious from the old account you are trying to reclaim. Use something like "TEMP Account". Copy your user account from the old HD to the new HD (into the Users folder) create a new user account, but use the same name as the old user folder is called. use a password you will remember and add a "hint" at the bottom. log out and log back into the user account that you just created.

Free codes live

This error has been identified , and verified by myself when I first got it after playing BF4 the first few days it was out and got the message during the loading screen, to be an internal storage issue rather than any sort of connection problem. Most fast fixes recommend backing up your games, saves, etc. and formatting the HDD to original state to clear what is basically 'read-only' tagged info that is usually newer content or from an external source lke camera's, mp3,etc. How this content got set to a state where it can't be deleted individual is anybody's guess, but mine was the BF4 save data that caused it. I realized this when I popped in BF3 and loaded fine into campaign saved data as well as multiplayer matches with all custom options intact as well as playing a free to play MMO Dust with no issues or lost data. Glas I had only been playing for a couple days and didn't lose much other than level1-2 of the campaign. Strangely enough, the load-outs, server filters, etc. that are stored on EA's external servers remained as I had set them, but the local info (I.e. save data) was corrupt leaving the main options of controller, audio, video, etc. were set to default each time I played the game and reverted to the initial movie cut screen on the campaign mode. What is weird is that it would let me save and continue flawlessly until I turned of the PS3 and then it reared it's ugly head. Hope this helps and you are able to save most of your stuff seing as how it seems to be only from one source, folder, etc. that causes the problem.

I put game saves on my psp but my game cant read it!!!!

Welcome to fixya,

Here is the step by step instruction to put save games on your psp,

1-Connect your PSP to the computer using a USB cable.
2-Get the gamesave from a gaming web site.
3-Unzip the folder and make sure it is the one you want.
4-Get the folder that has the main game save in it.
5-Copy the game save folder.
6-Open PSP-savedata and make sure you don't have that save data but with your save.
7-Paste it and if you have a current save in it, press replace only if you want to really get rid of it or save it to your computer.
8-Check the PSP savedata on the PSP menu screen to see if it is corrupted.
9-Put the game in that you got the save data from and see if it works.

Hope this helps.

I have an Asus P5VD2-VM SE motherBoard But Cant find The Leds And Switch Connectors

Hello,

The Front Panel connector is in the lower right corner if you view the MB with the CPU at the top. There are 4 pins on top of the connector and 5 on the bottom. It should be labeled F_PANEL. The connections are:

(PWRLED)
Top Row first: Power LED +
Top Row second: Power LED -

(PWRBTN)
Top Row third: Power Button
Top Row fourth: Power Button Gnd.

(HDLED)
Bottom Row first: HD LED +
Bottom Row second: HD LED -

(RESET)
Bottom Row third: Reset Gnd.
Bottom Row fourth: Reset

Bottom Row fifth: No Connection

The pdf manual will not allow me to copy and paste info so I will lead you to the manual so you will have it to help solve this problem and perhaps future ones.

Go to this site:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

In the upper left it has a search box that says "Input Model to Search".
Type in your model number. Click on Search Info.

A verification page will come up. Click on the model number link. You will then get a small window to select your operating system. Do so. Click Search.

You will get a list of available downloads with Manual at the bottom. Click the little + next to Manual. Scroll down to the appropriate language manual. (I assume English. It is the next to last one listed.)

Click on Global (DLM) or Global or China. A download window will open. Select SAVE. Choose the folder to save it to. (My Documents will do.)

When the download is complete click OPEN FOLDER on the download window. The file should be highlighted. Double click on the file to extract the pdf file from the zip file. Once opened, SAVE it as the pdf file where you will be able to reference it in the future.

The front panel connector pinout is on page 1-35.

If you have problems, use the Comment button to reply.

Error code:0 i cant save any work on InDesign

You are either:

1. Using symbols like "/" in the filename
2. Or doing what I was doing which was trying to save the file in an (accidentally) locked folder. To fix this - right click on the folder and get info - open up sharing and permissions and make sure that your username has full read write access. I also clicked on the settings cog button and applied this setting to everything in the contents of the folder. The folder had somehow corrupted during a network transfer and this is what was making inDesign not play ball.

No audio

You may not have downloads the correct driver software. The Asus P5VD2-VM SE uses the, Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.5490 for Windows & HD driver, Realtek High Definition Audio System Software V5.10.0.5366 for Windows. You can download both from Asus by clicking on this link;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P5VD2-VM%20SE&SLanguage=en-us
Please read all of page 1-34 in your P5VD2-VM SE manual to help you setup your audio. You'll need to make a bios change per instruction. If the current software does not uninstall. Enter the bios & disable the setting for HD as shown on page 2-24. Save & exit the bios. The system will auto restart. Try again to uninstall the software, it should uninstall. Create a folder on your desktop & name it HD audio. Download the HD audio software into the HD folder. Do the same for the standard Realtek AC'97 software by creating another folder within the HD folder & naming it, Realtek AC'97. Store V5.10.0.5490 into the Realtek AC'97 software there.
Both files will need to be uncompressed. Enter your bios again & Enable either the [AC'97] or the [HD] setting. Save & exit the bios. Go back into windows device manager. Open the + sign to the left of Sound, audio and game controller. (It will open if it's not already opened).
Rather trying to reinstall by using the sound software's setup.exe file we will do a more direct method of installation.
Right click once on the yellow ! point & left click once on update driver. Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Click the green check mark once & it will go away.
Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Find you’re desktop folder named HD & open it. Left click once on the folder named (Depending which you are going to install), Realtek or HD, so it is high-lighted. Than click OK.
Windows will find the correct driver software & install it automatically. Once completed. Close all opened windows & restart you’re system. Test your audio. If you intend to use a mic, you will need to set this up through the Sounds audio devices within the control panel.

If you run into any issue just post your question here.
Good luck nxyz215!
Mike
