How does the Fission hd dvd maker work ? Does it need any special adaptors and does it copy from vcr tapes to dvd discs thank you Ron McKAY

It /is/ a special adaptor. It's a USB device that plugs into your computer, then you plug your VCR into it (it comes with a couple of different cables to match the VCR's output). You can use the resulting mpeg files however you would normally use digital movies, including burning them to DVD.

Be wary of the included software though; I was working just fine with one on behalf of a community group who wanted me to transfer their old vidoes onto a DVD, but on some tapes the software erroneously found them to be "copyright protected" and wouldn't work. Still looking for an alternative.

Five year old..

the headsystem might need to be replaced atleast, maybe more.
Id suggest selling it as is, with the head problem. On ebay for example.

I dont know the actual value of the device but my guess would be around 50-150 maybe more who knows.

if theres anything else, let me know.

Just purchased the Sanyo xacti 10 mega pixel 3 x zoom mini camcorder Getting choppy video when transferring from the camcorder to the PC How can I fix it?

You may need a new computer or upgrade your current one to keep up with the higher resolution of your camera. If you're just playing a video from your camera onto your computer, I would copy/move the video to your computer first and play it from your computer. Maybe try opening it with a different media player like, Quick Time, Windows Media Player, Real Player, DivX by right clicking on the video and go to Open with and choose a different player. If you're wanting to upgrade your computer, start with the video card and RAM. Hope this helps.

The power up problem perhaps can be solved by replacing the clock battery that is under the view finder arm. Move the arm to get at the small battery draw and replace the CR2025 button battery.

We put a new tape into the cam corder and the screen has turned blue. What can we do?

Hi, first check with old tape that the tape is getting played or not. If its working fine there may be two problems with the new tape:
1. Either the tape not inserted properly.
2. Or the tape is defective.

Also, try to clean the head of the camcorder with cotton bud before inserting the tape. If nothing works from the begining. The head of the camcorder is to be shown to the service centre for checking the correct operation.

Hope ur problem gets solved in the very beginning.

Can't see how to play Hi8 tapes on this Sony dcr-trv340e pal camera

It's a Digital Hi8. Your tapes are Analog.
But it should play Analog also.
In the menu play with "PB Mode" settings.
