Question about Logitech Webcam

Error message when installing Logitech webcam

After doing some cleaning and reorganizing on my hard drive, my logitech webcam no longer worked. I tried to reinstall using the original software disk and each time received the error message that the camera wasn't Windows XP logo certified. Keep in mind I'd been using this camera for a year. So I went out and bought a new Logitech QuickCam - and got the same error message. I have Windows XP - and am using a Dell computer. Trying to get tech help from Dell was a nightmare so any help woudl be greatly appreciated!!

When I tried this and downloaded the correct software - I received the error message that this device was not designed for my operation system. I also don't know what you meant by the second part - I tried looking at my device manager but there were no options for altering the settings. Maybe I'm being dense. I also don't know what a tellow exclamation point is...thanks though

If you click on this link,
it'll take you to the Logitech website, and you should click on 'Webcams' in the Product list, and select your webcam version from the Product Name list, then press the arrow and it'll let you download the correct driver for your webcam.
Be sure to get a driver that is XP compatible..

Even if the installation doesn't have a Windows Security Certificate, the Logitech driver software will have the operating system support built in.

If you have problems installing the driver, go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, and look under Imaging Devices or wherever you see a tellow exclamation mark and double click on the device listing and hit the driver tab, and install the driver from there, choosing the 'Let me choose the driver' type option, and then navigate to the folder you unzipped the driver software to, install, wait and reboot.

Hope this helps

Oh sorry haha I meant 'yellow exclamation mark'.
After you plug the webcam in, it'll try to install, but won't be able to properly, because it won't be able to find the correct driver. The device manager lists such devices as 'unknown device' and always has a yellow exclamation mark next to it, and you have to install the driver from there..
It is possible you are trying to load the Vista driver instead of the XP driver from that site.. If you put your webcam model into google, followed by the words 'xp driver' you should find a link somewhere, usually at softpedia or one of those sites..
eg Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 XP driver

    Runner error message!

this as you know is the logitech software update manager that is running in the background and is probably unable to connect with the internet or the logitech site for news and updates. If you do not want the programme to run at all go to Start>run then type msconfig and hit enter, and on the startup tab and look for runner.exe on c:\logitech line and untick it. Click apply and restart pc. If you wish it to run you may have to install the software again as it is either corrupt or unable to connect with the logitech sever.
