To Murdock_4, yes that is correct, the username was intended to be my password. I'm running windows Vista Business.

To Ihurry, it's not the user name for my pc but the username for Acer Bio-Protection Fingerprint application which came pre-installed on my pc, I just had to fill in the fields to activate it.... and must of filled them out wrong. Now the user name is appearing as my password.

It is however connected to my user folder as when I look in my C drive/users, it appears as the password name and not the user name I gave my pc (which appears in the users in Control Panel)

    any suggestions?

Hmmmmm.....

If the folder in "C:Users" is the intended password, I would have to agree with lhurry. If changing the password and username through the control panel does not solve the problem, then
"Acer Bio-Protection Fingerprint Application" must somehow have a higher authority than the administrator.

If this is the case, I can't help you too much without some research on both ends. I strongly reccomend, though, that you try the following:

  1. Try changing the username and password through control panel.
  2. If it doesn't work, make sure you're using an administrative account.
3. Go into the "Acer Bio-Protection Fingerprint Application" and see if there aren't options (Probably under Tools > Options) that allow you to re-enter some or all of the problematic settings.

4. If all else fails, http://www.google.com/.

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

Restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

if this fails to remove your password

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

start a windows xp system up n safe mode then click on control panel ten user accounts then the specified user which is password protected and it allows you to change the password without knowing the original one.

Restart the computer. Repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears. Select the Safe Mode option using the up and down arrow keys

then press the ENTER key. Choose "Windows XP Home/Professional" depending on the version of the operating system. Press ENTER. Shortly, the welcome screen should show.
Log in as "Administrator"

Click Yes to not use System Restore Mode.
Click the Start button. Choose Run and type in "control userpasswords" (without the quotes). Click OK

Select the "Administrator" user.

Click Change my password. Enter a new password in the corresponding text boxes.

Click OK. Write this password down and store it in a secure place. I do not recommend that a password hint be used.
Close the User Accounts window and restart Windows.

Acer aspire IE3450P BIOS Password

A BIOS password is a protection measure that can be used to stop someone powering up a computer system or making changes in some of the computers most sensitive areas. Many big name computer manufacturers such as Dell and HP lock the customers out of this area because they don’t want the customer changing anything and potentially damaging the machine (which the manufacturer may have to warranty). However, when someone like a computer technician or hardware enthusiast needs to make some hardware changes to the computer, they will need to access the BIOS. Here are some methods to bypass or remove a BIOS password.

NOTE: Do not try to guess the password on a pass worded Hard Drive. 3 wrong guesses will often result in the information on the hard drive being lost forever.
How to Bypass or Remove a BIOS Password by Removing the CMOS Battery:
The simplest way to remove a BIOS password is to simply remove the CMOS battery. A computer will remember its settings and keep the time even when it is turned off and unplugged because these parts are powered by small battery inside the computer called a CMOS battery. If we pull out this battery, the computer will forget a lot of its hardware settings, including its BIOS password. This should not be performed on Laptops if you are not experienced working with laptop hardware.
remove-battery.thumbnail.jpgAnyway, open up the computer case using a screw driver and locate the flat, circular and metallic CMOS battery. It should look something like the picture to the right. Some computers have this part standing upright.
Once you have located it, observe how the latches are holding it. There are many different ways to remove a CMOS battery but the most common way on newer computers can be seen in the picture below.
remove-bios-battery.thumbnail.jpg Make sure to power down the computer, unplug the power cables and unplug any USB devices if they are powered. The computer must not be able to get power from anywhere for this to work. Take out the CMOS battery and wait 10 – 25 minutes before putting it back in. The reason for this wait is because the computer can still store power in its capacitors even though everything is unplugged. The waiting period allows enough time for them to discharge.
Plug everything back in, power up the computer and enter the BIOS again. If everything went well there should be no more password. In some cases, if you get weird error messages during boot up now, you will need to go to “Load BIOS Defaults” in BIOS and save the changes to fix them.

Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time.
