Do i have an immobiliser problem?

Take a close look at those two lights. If one is a "check engine" light the car should be scanned. Autozone, Advance, and Oreilys do it free.

Some cars have switches on brake pedal levers or clutch levers which must be coordinated or timed to INTERLOCK with the starter. Also gearshift must be aligned similarily, such that all switches must be lined up for starter to work.

If lower switches are knocked out of position by feet, then it can cause starting problems.

Check your Battery voltage. Some antitheft are very sensitive to low voltage and the immobilizer will kick in.

I have a 2000 Subaru Outback and recently the ABS light came on while driving out to my parents'. When I got there, I called our mechanic and made an appointment for later in the week to have it...

Here is an idea. Check the connections between the battery and the car's ground and the starter. Then find the ground cable which connects the engine to the car and check the connections there as well. Often times odd ball electrical problems are caused by a faulty ground, especially when there is a starter issue. May help, costs nothing but a few moments of your time, and once in a dozen times it is the problem.

I have recently bought a 1993 520i which wont start. the ignition turns on but the engine wont turn over/start, it is not the starter motor as the car wont start on a bump either. I have narrowed the...

IF the solenoid which activates the starter is not working, you would not be able to get the car to start with jumper cables (bump ?)
So the problem could still be starter related.
There are a lot of questions on FixYa about 'theft/immobilisers' and not a lot of answers.
I hope yours is starter related.
