Question about Microsoft Windows Xp Home Edition Sp2 English Mlp Na Only Additional License (n0901086) for PC

1 Answer

XP RESTARTS The winXP sp2 os in my pc keeps restarting while normal course of work. Also during Boot up time just while the xp booting screen appears ,it restarts, this keeps happening 7 to 8 times. If i am lucky to login to the system then while normal working it just restarts. Due to this i have formatted the whole disk and reinstalled xp but still the same effect. It cannot be a hardware trouble because while installing the WIN XP OS it does not restart. Also i have checked by removing all the hardware and run with the bare essentials. I have even checked the ram.

This is caused because a file of your pc has become corrupt and your XP needs to be reinstalled.

There are a few things you can try . First , try this : the computer is off . Turn it on and Press F1 key repeatedly or whichever key applies to your computer that enables you to access your BIOS settings . Then , using the arrows you will select boot options or boot settings . Then , you want to arrange the boot order device sequence so the CD is first. Some computers display a boot device options when you first and computer on by pressing a special key, like ESC or F12. You want the computer to boot from the CD ROM with your XP disk in the drive. This should allow you to properly format the HDD and install XP. If that doesn't work , check your BIOS settings and select the default configuration , then be sure to exit using the exit dialogue box and select exit saving changes and then yes when prompted . Then, do the device boot options thing one more time with the CD as the first boot device .

Press Esc to cancel loading SPTD.sys

You should be able to boot XP from an install CD and perform a repair install (not a complete install) which will not affect your existing files.

You'll need to enter your BIOS and ensure that your PC is set to boot from CD, then restart your PC with the disc in the disc drive. After a period of loading, it will give the option to repair install on the installation screen. Choose that option, then follow the onscreen prompts and allow the install to finish before rebooting (rebooting may be automatic, depending on your version). After repair install, ensure that all updates are current.

Dunno what happen??

When You Boot up your screen goes in to the windows xp loading bar and after a quick blue flashin screen pops up and it restarts unfortunately this is what they call the Blue Screen of Death so more than likely you harddrive with the os is corrupted so either you will need to reload the OS or by a new harddrive and load the Os on that Harddrive

Windows error

Hi notsoscrewed- As long as you have your original XP disk you can save everything. First, make sure your pc is bootable from your cd drive. If you know it is good. If not, when your pc boots it should say something like hit F2 or <del> to enter setup. Go into the BIOS and find your boot options and make sure your cd is listed as bootable and listed to boot before your hard drive. Then save and exit. When your system reboots make sure you have your XP cd in your cd drive and your pc will say press any key to boot from cd rom. Press any key and follow these steps:

You must boot from your XP CD. Please make sure it is the same version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer (ex. XP Home cannot repair XP Professional). Place the CD in your CDROM and start your computer. Newer versions will work as well (ie. Windows XP Pro SP2 CD will work on an older WinXP Pro SP1 installation)
Before the Windows logo appears, you will be asked to press any key to boot from CD, so do just that.
A blue screen will appear and will begin loading XP setup from the CD.
Choose the FIRST option, NOT recovery console.

Choose F8 to continue

Next, Windows Setup will find existing Windows XP installations. You will be asked to repair an existing XP installation or install a fresh copy of Windows XP

That should be it. Windows XP will appear to be installing itself for the first time, but it will retain all of your data and settings. Just follow the prompts, have your CD-KEY handy . You may have to install XP updates again and reactivate XP but small price to pay and little time to be able to save all your software and info. Let me know what happens.

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If you need more help with this just add a comment and I'll be more than happy to assist you further. Thanks.
