Question about Microsoft ZUNE JS8BRPBDLUG MP3 Player
30GB Zune Black /w v 3.1 software.
I was listening to music when all the sudden it turned off and turned on by itself. But when it turned on it froze on the loading screen (where you have the zune symbol and ZUNE writen underneath and the loading bar). And it stays on with that screen on. I tryed all button combinations that I read on this site, but it still didn't work. I let the battery die and when I charged it back up it still went to the same screen. When I pluged it to my laptop, my laptop doesn't recognize it. All it does it stays on the loading screen.
Turn the Zune off, then push the left and up buttons as you keep it connected to the computer charger. That will hard reset the Zune. If it doesn't respond to the hard reset it is more likely you have motherboard issue. There are parts available on ebay, there is a zune repair guide that will show you how to replace the logic board.

A co-worker of mine may have found a solution. But it is risky, since you have to open your Zune. Since his Zune has already no warranty, he carefully opened it, unplugged the battery cable and waited a few seconds, plugged it again and restarted.
The device is now working! we're listening to it right now and the computer recognized it. It seems like a solution to me! (If you have no problems opening your Zune). there is this video and some others on youtube that can instruct you on opening your Zune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBL0lPBpC3I
I'm about to do it now. Good luck!

Opening the case and disconnecting the battery is probably the right solution but be very, very cautious.
If the unit is under warranty, try bringing it back to the place of purchase and ask them about warranty repairs. There just may be a local authorized repair center that can do this for you.
If you're going to brave this attempted repair, I would suggest you ground yourself and the case of the unit first to discharge any static electricity you may have acquired on your person. These new micro miniaturized entertainment devices utilize ultra-static sensitive xMOS electronic chips, gates and arrays in them and touching the wrong part inside the unit can toast it in nano-seconds.
Good luck and Happy New Year,
