If that link has expired, which happens from time to time with HP/Compaq dynamic links. Go to this page and then choose Windows XP and it will take you to the same page as above but with a new timer on it.
And should that one be expired also, start at this page, choose your laptop model version and navigate out to the Operating System page choice.
Sometimes these links expire, sometimes they don't it all depends on how long you take to use the links posted here.
So, should they all be expired go to this Start Page and begin by inserting your Compaq model, they all start with CQ. Type this in under the Search Products Header on the right hand side. Just remember to use CQ instead of CP, that's how HP lists these on their site.

the best place to get your motherboard driver is to go directly to the compaq website, type- in the model name for your board under the download tab, and u will get all the divers associated with the board.
You need to install the Windows operating system first.
Then you need to check what drivers that are missing or not working.
Then you need to download the drivers for your model laptop. You will need to get onto the Internet from a working computer to do this.
You can go to the Compaq/HP WEB site to download the latest drivers for your model laptop that suit your particular Windows operating system (ie, Windows XP, vista etc.). Go to www.compaq.com
use PC wizard to find out what drivers are on your computer then search for drivers as listed individually when downloaded store on seperate partition of hard drive in a folder called drivers
