I plugged in my Wii today and tried to play Rock Band 2 but all my controllers were not responding. Even with Gamecube controllers it was as if there were no controllers plugged in. None were responsive and even when it eventually got to the main menu the little hand never showed up.

Re: Wii and Gamecube controllers do not work for Wii
Perhaps this is a stupid question, but have you synced your controllers lately?
Open the little drop over under the disk tray (the place where you put the SD card) and press and hold the red button in there, open the battery cover for the wiimote and press and hold that little red button. Wait till both the controller and the system respond. Basically, they have to find eachother again.

Gamecube games don't have the proper coding installed on the discs in order to receive commands from the Wiimote. You'll have to have a Gamecube controller to play Gamecube games even on the Wii console.
The Nintendo Wii already comes with everything needed to play GameCube. GameCube disks are loaded and unloaded from the system in the same way that Wii game disks are used. To play the games you are going to need a GameCube controller and a GameCube memory card to save progress. On the top of the system (if the system is vertical) or on the side (if it is laying down) are two flaps, one which opens to reveal the controller ports and the other reveals the slots for the memory cards. To play GameCube, simply select the top left square from the main menu (like you would for any Wii game), select start, and then use the GameCube controller to play the game.
Assuming the Wii unit is situated vertically, look on the top of the unit. There should be two flaps. Lift them, and you will find plugs for four GameCube controllers and two GameCube memory cards. Plug in the controllers and go.
Bare in mind that only a very small number of Wii games actually use GameCube controllers. The controller slots are primarily for playing GameCube games on the Wii, which the Wii can do right out of the box, provided you have the controllers and memory cards.
make shaw its not a ps3 game, not trying to be patronizing but ive had 3 people do that brought ps3 games and try to put them in ps2, its true sony are rip off merchants, my advise is not to get a wii ether go for a xbox 360, he will love you for ever. the download content alone you can get for rock band1/2 and guitar hero world tour is worth it
Well that depends if your trying to play gamecube games on the gamecube or the wii?, i assume your doing it on the wii because anyone would know that a wii control wouldn't work on a gamecube, not impossible, just very hard
wii remotes do work with the nintendo wii on wii games and on gamecube games, but it is better if you use a gamecube controller and plug it into the to holes under the flap, pictured below, hopefully.
It depends on which version of Rock band you are playing, Rock band 1 will not work with Guitar Hero guitars at all, but Rock Band 2 on the wii will except them. and for the microphone you have to have a seperate wiimote sync'd up tho count as the controller for the the game to recognize the mic.
Are you talking about the controller or memory card?? If the controller try plugging it into the second gamecube controller slot even if you are wanting it for player one. This is the only way I have been able to get it to work.
You can do both. With internet you can download Nintendo 64 games on the wii shop channel. For game cube games enter the controller in slot one, enter the game and it's like you don't have a wii!
Note: due to the fact the the wii remote does not have enough buttons ALL N-64 games need a gamecube controller or a classical controller. Game Cube games are not compatible with classical controllers.
We had the same problem, we even went and bought a whole new Rock Band. My husband turned our PS2 slimline on the side and it started working. I don't know why or how, I just know it worked for us. Give it a try and I hope it works for you also.
logic 3 controllers are not good, return the logic 3 controller to the store and buy a NINTENDO wavebird instead, i bought mine used and it is perfectly fine. you might have the controller plugged into port (....) instead of port ( . ) so try that or buy a wavebird instead ( if you ask me , buy the wavebird). I think my sister's friend's brother had the same problem. But he gave up on it. Probably faulty. Third party gamecube and wii accessories (excluding nyko) are bad or do not last very long.
