Jl500 amp... Been hooked up the same way for years. Power wire from battery with an inline fuse which goes back to the power block which goes to the amp. Perfect ground and remote wire to the deck. And RCA...

well the nasty spark it shoots its because you r to first connect negative first always and than positive or check ur main cable/fuse that is connected to your battery inside the fuse box its actually pretty easy to find just follow the positive red wire from your battery till u get to the fuse box it looks like its connected to negative and positive, check it it may be the problem(inside the fuse box), if it isn't you should check the main source of battery recharge which is your alternator it may be going bad

Connected a Dual XPA2100 300 watt amp to the battery and connected ground to chassis of vehicle. Vehicle is 2004 Saturn Ion with battery located in trunk area. Amp does not power on, all connections are...

The remote wire DOES need to be connected to the head unit. You can see if thats the problem simply by touching the remote wire to the power wire. The unit should come on. The head unit should either have a remote lead, or a power antenna lead, and thats what you need to turn the amp on and off. BE SURE your ground is solid, and its usually best to take that to the battery as well to prevent unwanted engine noise. Hope this helps!

Amp want power off

If your Dual Car Amp refuese to switch ON check the following.
+12V wire is not connected or incorrect voltage.
REM wire is not connected or incorrect voltage.
Ground wire is not connected.
Fuse(s) are blown.
If the fuse blows repeatedly, check whether the +ve voltage wire touche the chasis of the vehicle. If it is OK, the fault is with the univt itself. That is, the output of the unit has a short. Check for any output IC failure. OK.

Bad ground sounds like you may have paint or undercoating stopping the ground from making good contact or unhook the remote wire and run a small wire from the main power to the remote hook up and see if it works ...... May have a faulty remote

Speaker or amp?

your running too low impedence, and yes its cuz of your sub wiring. How to wire it depends if its 2ohm dual voice coil, or 4ohm dual voice coil, so i'll explain both. O.K. first of all i hope its 4 ohm so you can get max power from your sub. If it is 4 ohm dual voice coil connect + to +, and - to - on your speaker, then to connect it to your amp, splice a wire into the wire running from + to + and connect it to your amp's + terminal. Do the same with your - wire. If its a 2 ohm dual voice coil, connect the + from one set of terminals on the speaker, to the - on the other terminal. Then to connect it to the amp, plug a wire from the open + terminal on the speaker and connect it to the + plug on the amp, and do, connect the empty - to the - on the amp. Good luck and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask...

Auto amplifier installation

Does the new deck have a blue wire for remote and a blue/white wire also? The blue one is for a power antenna and shuts of when playing discs or axillary inputs. The blue/white is for power amplifiers and stays on when the deck is on. Also be sure the remote wire that goes to the amp is not pinched and grounded out to the frame of the car. Let me know, and be sure to leave feedback or I don't get paid.

Amp goes into protect mode.

I would definately suspect wiring. If you can use a volt meter. Put it on the b+ to ground and see what the reading is should be 12+ then try the ground to remote wire should be 12+. If it drops below 12 volts when car starts. Recheck wires for loose connection. Also double check the wire you have the remote wire connected to. You might even want to disconnect from the amplifier and use a jumper wire from the positive terminal on the amp to remote on the amplifier and see if it stays on then. If it stays on you will have to find the loose connection or find a different wire to get remote power.
