The Gateway P5-100 was made in the middle 90's circa 1994. This comptuer most likely has only 64 megs of mem (if that) and less than a gig hard drive. Windows 3.1 would be about all you could install on this machine, and those diskettes are hard to find. If it has a cd player in it, it might be able to have win95 installed.

For a machine this old, I will have to have more stats on the machine.

    Hard Drive Size
    Memory
486sx or 486dx (did someone upgrade it to a pentium 1?)

You don't get these disks for free. If a site offers them, they probably are pirated. The company that built the computer will usually sell you a replacement set for about $20 or so.

Then follow the on screen instructions to restore your computer.

Can not get pass set up, place where you name the computer, have run restore cd

Hello there , let put things in order:
1) That is is your PC DISC? RESTORE CD?
2) If so, just run the Restore CDs, and use DESTRUCTIVE FORMAT/ and restore the OS from CDs and SYSTEM PARTITION. **
it is supose to work.
other than this, may be a defective hard disk, use warranty, or have to replace that hard drive. ** be sure you got a full recovery CDS.
GOOD LUCK

Install back up cd's

Data is just data.

If your laptop is working correctly, then just insert the CD, and copy files from the CD onto the hard-drive.

If you created "system-restore" CDs, they can be used only to "restore" the factory-setup on the SAME computer, not a different computer, i.e., your laptop.

  1. Go to Start > Programs > Windows Update (or Microsoft Update)

Hello,

The model is probably B110 and you can start the factory restore by restarting the computer and repeatedly pressing CTRL- F11 until you see the factory restore program start. Then follow the on-screen prompts to do a factory restore.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.
