You have two convergence amps that need to be replaced on the convergence board. This is a very common problem with these units. The part # are STK392-110 but I would upgrade to a STK392-120 or a STK392-150.Also there may be a couple of low ohm resistors that need replacing.Depending on your electronics experience this job is pretty much a straight forward soldering job that requires a certain amount of knowlege. These parts can be obtained from partsstore.com.I as a technician charge between$185.00 in shop and $250.00 inhome for this repair. It is well worth it as this particular chassis really did`nt hve very many problems, and once fixed you will have a like new picture.Good luck!!!

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

i have found when samsangs convergence are out of range perfect focus will fail. if the are out of range a technician will try to adjust the set in service mode. store these values and then this will be the base for the perfect focus. If the set has a bad convergence cuircit then they have to be replaced.

Sounds like failures of the convergence output IC's. They should be STK392-110's in the set. Also check associated circuitry around them.

You will have to contact toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 and get a service manual to adjust the on board menu and adjustment.. I do not or ever ever recomend that an unexperienced person mess with the sets alighnments unless they have the service manual and understand all of the teminology as I've seen several sets that cost the customer 4 times what it would have if they didnt mess with the service menu and knock all the alighnments as this is not the time to adjust someting just to see what happens.
