How to set channels to scan on motorola ht 1000

On the HT1000, there is an A, B, C toggle switch just under the On/OFF/Volume control knob.

When set to A, the radio is IN the scan mode.

When set to B it is NOT in the scan mode.

When switched to C, it is in the scan program mode. There is a green button on the left side above the PTT switch. When you set it to C, you switch the CHANNEL SELECT knob to the desired freq you want to add to the scan list. When there, you push the green button. ONE push gives you a red indicator light on the top of the radio. A 2nd push gives you a GREEN light displayed. A 3rd push gives you NOTHING lit up.

The 1st push (RED light) means you have selected THIS freq as your PRIORITY channel of your scan list when scanning.

The 2nd push (GREEN light) means it is just IN the list, not as a priority channel.

NO light means it is NOT entered into the scan list.

Once you have your list set up, simply flip the A,B,C switch back up to A and you're scanning what you selected.

HOWEVER All of the above is dependent on whether or not the ORIGINAL setup programming from the factory set the radio up for these features to work. If it WASN'T set up that way, you'll have to have it reprogrammed to activate the buttons and the toggle switch for those features to work.

I have a MTX8000 Handie-Talkie FM Radio It is a 16 channel radio

You're on scan mode but have no channel in scan list. You might have to go to scan PROGRAM mode and select the channel you want to scan then press a side button to put that channel in the scan list then will scan.

I have a motorolla jt100 with no sound

Since you are receiving the weather (Wx) channel, the radio appears to be receiving fine. It might be that your fire frequencies are not programmed into the radio. Check your programming, as well as checking your scan list. The Wx channel should not be included in the scan list, as there is constant radio traffic on this frequency, and your radio would get stuck there during the scan process.

This is the most common problem connected to your post. Hope that helps, Bill.

HT 1000 Set Scan mode

First, your radio must have one of the side buttons programmed to be scan on/off. You will need to experiment while one or more of the channels is active and press the side button to see if it puts you in scan mode.

If it is, most likely a short press turns on scan, and a long press would be nuisance channel delete. This feature will temporarily eliminate a channel out of your scan list for the time your have your radio turned on. Once you shut the unit off and turn it back on, it would return to the original setting.

The only way to have a button programmed for scan/nuisance channel delete, is to us Motorola propritary software available to dealers and certain businesses and governement agencies. If you are needing to turn on scan or change a scan list, you would need to have the radio reprogrammed. This typically will cost between $25 and $40 at more dealerships.

HT1000

Hi bonkuman,

To my knowledge the Motorola HT1000 is not a trunk system radio, it is as a "conventional" 16 channels two-way radio. Motorola classifies this radio as intended for Government & Enterprise. In my country, we call them "Commercial" radios as oppose to "Amateur" radios. In a way, yes they may be termed "professional" as their claimed performance and durability exceeds those of other radios. Incidentally, the Motorola HT1000 has been discontinued and was replaced with the PR1500.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
