I want to replace Broadcom wireless in Presario M2000 laptop (Turion64) with Intel 2200 BG but the machine gives me 104 error on boot (unsupported device) and won't boot at all if the card is physically installed (even if disabled in BIOS).
Does anyone know how to make this work or alternativelly recommend the wireless card supported by this machine, while working in Linux?

As this is an older model, the drivers may not be compatible to Vista. If none of them are working, either try to install Windows 7 (with 7 i had the WLAN already installed with windows on a travelmate 5520) or revert to windows XP, for which one of the drivers I gave you works for sure.
Have you recently tried to update to windows 7 or vista. The wireless device in this laptop is an older Broadcom wireless device and will not work newer Windows versions well at all. Even in windows XP you have to update the driver. It is available here.
It looks as though this is equipped with a Broadcom WLAN card.
Try going to this link for HP/Compaq put in the required information for product number then click on software/driver downloads. then follow the steps for installing the driver. That should do the trick after a clean install of the operating system.
check your memory card(s) you may have a bad on or two, and if that doesn't work then sounds like the mother board has become defective and needs replacing, but the ram Memory would be the cheeper fix first.
HELLO,PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER ON BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTIL YOU GET A POWER LIGHT.ONCE YOU GET THE LIGHT,THE LAPTOP SHOULD BOOT UP NORMALLY.IF THAT DOESNT WORK,REMOVE THE BATTERY AND TRY TO POWER UP WITH JUST THE AC ADAPTER PLUGGED IN.ONCE YOU GET BOOTED,INSTALL THE BROADCOM WIRELESS CARD SOFTWARE FIRST FROM THE CD THAT CAME WITH THE ADAPTER.THE SET-UP WILL THEN ASK YOU TO INSTALL THE CARD AFTER THE DRIVERS HAVE BEEN LOADED.YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET ONLINE ONCE ALL THE STEPS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.GOOD LUCK
This does appear to have wireless capabilities.
there should be a small button to the left of the screen latch which you press to turn wireless on/off when on there should be a blue light that comes on.
if you wish to use wireless to access your broadband you will need to have a wireless router / ADSL modem (depending on your supplier)
you then configure the settings on the router to access the internet, then you configure the laptop to connect to the router. (there shoudl be instructions on how to do this with the router
I hope this helps
