Question about Acer Aspire T650 (AST650UC3601) PC Desktop

Is it possible to update Chipset drivers after swapping M/Board?

I was sold a replacement Motherboard for a duff ASUS board that fried.
What they didn't take into account (or failed to tell me) was that the Chipset was different and now Windows XP Pro SP2 won't load with the new board. Is there any way to just update Chipset drivers (or anything else) that might make loading XP possible, please?

I have an intel Pentium motherboard in my office but no motherboard software is available when I reformatted it due to virus etc. So, I want " all-in-one driver for the next time.

Hi there! This is very common when one wipes a machine. When I have rebuilt machines or wiped machines, I make sure I follow the following steps:
1.) Note the make and model of the mother board
2.) Use a search engine and type the following: "Drivers for *make and model of mother board*"

There's an excellent chance all your drivers are out there. You might also want to update your question by stating the OS you are using and make and model of the mother board. this would make for a simple solution to post a link to the drivers as well as detailed instructions.
Best regards,
-Bones

Please, may you tell to me what is ACER ASPIRE M1641 motherboard name ?

Re: Sata driver - ACER M1641 desktop PC « Reply #8 on: March 28, 2009, 04:26:23 PM » I have discovered the previously unknown model of the motherboard in this system. I have searched and searched and could not find it anywhere. With the actual model of the motherboard you can get supported drivers right from the manufacturer, the same way you could if you purchased a standard motherboard like asus or gigabyte.

I have determined this motherboard (at least my acer a1641-e1712a) is a MICROSTAR board. A link to a board with compatable drivers can be found http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1499&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&cat3_no=2 .

The board is a MSI board using their mainboard search. My criteria went as follows...

Mainboard -> Intel Platform -> Socket 775 Chip -> Nvidia Chipset -> Nvidia MCP73 Chipset

That narrows your down to 8 or so mainboards, all of which use the same sata, audio and onboard video. My above link http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1499&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&cat3_no=2 will take you to a board where you can get SATA, AUDIO and VIDEO DRIVERS.

Hope this helps guys!

I have an asus mother board no. P5GC/MX-1333 But Sound Driver not avalabel,Pl.send Sound Driver.

If it is an ONBOARD SOUND DRIVER (not a sound CARD installed into a PCI slot on MOBO)
go to ASUS website and download CHIPSET drivers (these contain the onboard sound, onboard video, etc.) make sure you get the right one which matches YOUR CHIPSET.
google "EVEREST HOME EDITION, LAST FREE VERSION, 321" and download it. RUN IT>
it will identify your CHIPSET and everything else.
also, ASUS may have on online tool to identify your CHIPSET.

Gateway GT5240E desktop won't power up

I know it sounds unlikely to work, but try this: Remove the motherboard from the chassis, remove the memory and cpu. Locate the chipset controllers. They are the two chips with the black heat sinks on them. Turn the motherboard over, and using a hair dryer on it's hottest setting, heat the underside of the motherboard directly beneath the chipset. Don't stay in one place for more than a minute or two, but stay in that gneral are of the motherboard for 10-15 minutes. After letting it cool, put everything back in, give it a minute to finish cooling, and fire it back up. The chipset is the source of the problem. As the board is used, apparently the chipset connections are compromised. heating them up from the underside seems to restore them. Worth a try, anyway. I'm writing this on a system I resurrected using this approach...
