Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

Diigo Highlight stopped working

I use Diigo bookmarks as a Firefox extension in my P.C. Until recently the Highlight portion of the program worked just fine. Now it doesn't. I tried adjusting the Settings but couldn't make a difference. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Diigo, shut down my computer and rebooted... and nothing works. I'd appreciate any solutions you have. Thanks very much.

Try System Restore and select the date just prior to Diigo not working.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck.

Get Bookmarks Bar to show up!

which browser are you using? I am not aware that Microsoft has a "bar" but if you are using Internet explorer then this "bar" is called "favorites". Firefox will call them "bookmarks".
Reset Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or any other browser you are using e./g. OPERA.

Most visited delete

What browser has "Most Visited"? In Internet Properties, for IE, click the General tab, and try emptying the Browser History. In Firefox, look in the Bookmarks Menu, click "Show all bookmarks", expand the "History" folder, and delete the folders included. Also in Firefox, you can click Tools, Options, Privacy tab, and change the History settings there.

How do i make bookmark folders on windows xp

Bookmarks are used in Mozilla Firefox, Opera & Google Chrome browsers. Internet Explorer uses Favorites. In Internet Explorer you just click browse to the webpage you want to save as a favorite then click Favorites, then click Add To Favorites and a popup window will appear with an option to create a new folder. In Mozilla Firefox browse to the page you want to bookmark, then click Bookmarks, then click Bookmark This Page. A popup window appears and you can select the drop down arrow next to Unsorted Bookmarks or the Gray Arrow just to the right of the unsorted bookmarks arrow. Both of these arrows are for folders and when you select either one you will see an option for a New Folder. In Opera browse to the webpage you want to bookmark, then click Opera at the top of the in the left hand corner and it will expand giving you options. Click Bookmarks, then click Bookmark Page and a popup window will appear allowing you to create a New Folder. In Google Chrome click on the wrench in the right hand corner at the top of the browser window. Then click Bookmarks, then Bookmarks Manager. When Bookmarks Manager opens you will see it has an Organize option, and when you click it you will see an Add Folder option. But the Add Folder option will be grayed out and unusable unless you highlight one of the folders already existing under the Bookmarks column.

Hey my firefox program want responed

Hello

Mozilla's Firefox is a popular Web browser. If Firefox 2 fails to respond after previously working, the user may have installed an add-on, theme or other modification that is in conflict with the program.

You can attempt to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if this solves the problem. Windows users should open the Start Menu, open the Firefox folder in the programs list and choose "Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)." A prompt will appear, asking the user if she wants to make changes -- such as disabling add-ons and using the default toolbars -- permanent. The user can skip ahead to Safe Mode.

If Firefox responds in Safe Mode, the user can close the program and restart Safe Mode. This time, he can select the boxes to reset all defaults within the browser in order to run it normally. If it does not respond, the user can uninstall the program (from the "Add or Remove Programs" option in the Windows Control Panel) and download a new installation from the Mozilla website.

Warning
Uninstalling Firefox will delete a user's settings, including plug-ins, history, bookmarks and other settings. Users who wish to save this data should employ the Firefox Profile Manager to save a copy of the profile before uninstalling the program.

Cannot bookmark page

Hmm zone alarm should not be stopping you from bookmarking it has no outgoing connections to bookmark so that should have nothing to do with your problem. :)

My first thought is that the bookmarks.html file is read only, this happens sometimes after upgrading your firefox.
  1. Navigate to the profile folder
  2. Find bookmarks.html (you can open it and see if any bookmarks in it saved to make sure this is the right file)
  3. Right-click on the file, choose Properties
  4. On the General tab, make sure "Read only" is not checked.
  5. Press OK.
For help how to find the profile folder:
Operating system Profile folder location(s) Windows NT (NT 4.x, 2000, XP, and Vista) "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\" Windows 95 (without Desktop Update) C:\Windows\Mozilla Windows 95 (with Desktop Update)/98/Me C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\
C:\Windows\Profiles\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\
Unix/Linux ~/.mozilla/ Mac OS X ~/Library/Mozilla/
~/Library/Application Support/
If this did not help or it was not read only, another known reason for the bookmarks button to stop working is if you have either a non compatible extension/plugin installed or if you have norton antivirus that messes it up (compatibility issues). I would try to troubleshoot this by first slowly disabling one by one the plugins, meaning disable one, restart firefox, see if it solved it. You do it the following way:

1] From menu that is at the top of Firefox window, you need to click on Tools options and then choose Add-ons. Add-ons window will appear.
2] In add-ons window, you have to select Extensions panel to view your installed extensions
3] Check for extensions known to cause problem when they are installed with Norton: These include Piclens, freecorder, FoxyTunes, Google Toolbar, and Skype extension. If you do not have norton then just go one by one slowly disabling for test.
4] Disable one by one each and every extension that you have from list above each time testing if the one you just disabled was responsible

For disabling the extension do the following:
1] Click on the name of that extension to disable
2] To disable this extension, you have to click on disable button.
Repeat the steps given below for each extension that is causing problem.

5] After you have disabled the extension, you have to close Firefox window. Click on file menu and then choose exit.
6] Right click on any empty spot in Windows task bar and then choose Task manager. An alternative way is to press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
7] Select processes tab
8] Select firefox.exe entry in processes list and then press End process. If there is no “firefox.exe” entry then you can skip this step.
9] Start Firefox browser normally
10] Close Firefox browser again. Click on file menu and then choose exit
11] Start Firefox browser again and see if bookmarks works

Alternatively if after disabling all the addons/extensions the bookmark menu still not works, you can always backup your bookmarks file (located in profile folder, see above for exact path), save it somewhere, reinstall firefox completely and import/copy back the bookmarks.

If the above solutions helped you please rate:):) Let me know if it solves it or not, am sure we find the solution:)
