Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

1 Answer

I am a DJ and I currently use PC DJ that I share with other DJ's here. I am the only one with a "Free Agent External Hard Drive" and for some reason, when I go to my playlist, none of my songs are working. My hard drive isn't being recognized by my computer however, all of the other users' files are fine. What do I do?

Which FreeAgent external hard drive do you have? There are a few different model names/numbers. I would right-click one of the songs on the playlist that isn't currently playing and see if there is a security block displayed in the general tab --> set to unblock.

You need to make sure that the software is looking at the same drive everytime. if you plug into differant usb ports the drive letter may change.

Hi there, I have a Seagate 250Gb external Free Agent disk that I want to put in to my laptop computer. Any ideas how to get in to the case without breaking it?

Hi,

I am Satya.

Hope this helps.

You can connect the Seagate 250 Gb external Free Agent disk by using a Usb connector and connect it to the USB port of your Laptop. In this way you can connect the disk to your Laptop computer without breaking it.

Windows will automatically detect the the drive and can be browsed through Windows Explorer as a separate drive.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Reinstall software to use my 160GB freeAgent Go USB

Hi, I am assuming that you are referring to a USB based external hard drive called Free Agent, by Seagate I think.

Which operating system are you using ?

Windows XP has native support for USB, and it should automatically detect the hard drive when you plug it in.
It should NOT require any other software to access the drive.

if not:
1) Check that the HD is powered up
2) Try a different USB cable
3) Try a different USB socket

4) Make sure that the HARD drive is correctly formatted:
i.e. Assuming you are running Windows XP
(Vista should have similar facilities)

Goto to the Control Panel -->
Double click on Administrative Tools
Double click on Computer Management
Look down, under storage,
Click on "Disk Management"
Give it a couple seconds to search for drives,
and to populate the list ...

Check to see if the external disk appears in the list:
It should be partitioned with an EXTENDED partition,
containing a LOGICAL drive, and formatted with NTFS.

If necessary, partition and format the drive, assuming
you have not already done so, and the drive does not
contain any data.

If the drive did previously contain your data, you can
either loose the data and re-format it, or you can hire
a data recovery company to repair the damaged drive.

PC computer will not detect Free Agent external hard drive. It has been operating just fine until today, March 20.08. Icon on desktop has a questions mark on top of icon.

Hello, right click on icon and click open. Or double left click on icon and see what it tells you. I sounds like cable or power has been disconnected. Could be driver needs reinstalling. Could be a number of things. Click on icon and see what it tells you. Hope this helps..

Very low disc space

In order for your laptop to properly operate you should keep at least 10% of your hard disk drive free, as this space is needed for your computer to properly operate. Move some of your current files to the external hard drive and remove them from the mail drive, then defraf drive and you should have smooth sailing.

I need to add a hard drive to my HP a1220n Pavilion for Photoshop and other Graphic programs. How can I do it if there is no available slot? Please help.

Hi,

A desktop PC would normally have capacity for 4 IDE devices such as 1 CD/DVD, 3 HDs or any combination limited to a total of 4. Additionally, most current PCs have 2 SATA connection points. If for some reason all are occupied and hence your post "no available slot", you may want to consider using an external storage device attached via any USB port of your PC.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
